not everyone knows how it works, so here is my summary:
to enter, one person enters the whole team, this person becomes the captain. It is probably easier if you know who you are in a team with and then the captain can enter all the details at registration. Last year the relay teams entered at the same time as individuals, using the VIP link in the same way. So it is best if the person nominated captain has pre-registered and is available on entry day to do the computer entry! Details of team members can be changed up until quite close to race day, so if someone is injured/has to pull out and you have a replacement then this can be sorted and OSB are good at doing this
you can have 2 or three on a relay team, normally 3
I am not sure how the 'pot luck' relay would work out so I am not going to get involved in trying to group those people, but I am going to look back and see who is on the list for nominated/chosen bits of relay and see if I can group people together....
ok, so I am not sure who is still going to be up for it, seeing as loads of people haven't posted for ages and some people have indicated that they may not make it
and not many people want to bike
how about a first team of:
citizen 146 (swim) alibear (bike) maths (run)
I would like to point out that I am slow runner before you agree to wait around for hours for me to plod round eating all the jaffa cakes
got a nice ring, will put it in the consideration ''pile''. Mathschick I believe the term is geek chic referring to a stylish mind that only appears to be boring, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
looks like this one's on you , unless Alibear is also special in this way! Just noticed that 220 was suggested not 226. All that springs to mind is something about a perfect ratio/golden ratio ( 5 4 3 or 5 3 2 ) or that there must be a number associated with the mandelbrot thing and chaos theory?
2 is a good number, all numbers in the mandelbrot set are less than 2 but bigger than -2, 2 is the only even prime number.... but I don't know if it makes for a good team name? Could amusing confuse people who would expect there to be 2 people on the team but there are 2 of us?
I am big fan of the late Douglas Adams ,where the answer to the big question of life the universe and everything is 42, incidentally we have a brother pirate called Oneof42! One of Douglas's characters Dirk Gently practiced ''Zen Navigation''. This involves following someone who looks like they know where they're going and mostly being disappointed when you arrive at their destination. Occasionally you arrive at their destination and are not disappointed. Very very rarely you arrive at their destination which is actually where you wanted to go!
I may have got sidetracked here....................
ah yes, I loved Douglas Adams too and I loved the whole quest for the what the big question was once they had the answer. And it seemed not to make sense 9 x 6 but actually if you use base 13 it works Maybe it is Douglas Adams's fault that I like maths

I was on ch4 walking past the camera in my coolest wetsuit in 2013, I 've never looked back

relay people:

they have to wait till the end........the longer you take the more beers they can drink
makes for a good finish line pic anyway - crossing the line with 2 drunk pirates....
sounds like a great team to me , and anything close to my 6 hours 20 PB for the run should give me enough beer time!
I may have a team up my sleeve. A couple of peeps still to get back to me.
I will be available on '' opening day'' due to being off work sick
that's handy citizen as I will be teaching maths when it opens
no wonder you need a hobby, any response from other prospective team member?
not yet, I'll see if I can get hold of her via facebook
yep, got hold of her via facebook, we have a team! We need a name now, I am not very inventive or witty but I do like numbers. Oh god, I sound boring
146 is a start with numbers.....
220 divided by 3
73.333333 recurring
got a nice ring, will put it in the consideration ''pile''. Mathschick I believe the term is geek chic referring to a stylish mind that only appears to be boring, at least that's what I keep telling myself.
now I am getting all geeky and thinking about special numbers, like 28 because it is perfect. e^ipi etc
sorry, I will take my maths away now and do something more constructive with it

I remember doing lots of ridiculously hard integration when I studied Mandelbrot! Don't know much about chaos theory but I'll have a look into it
