not a bad thing, to get un- sidetracked have bought a swim training aid and am developing a plan (in my head at least) to get down to a flat hour for the distance.
wish I could swim that fast! I managed 5k in the pool earlier this year in about 1:45 or something but then at outlaw this year I don't know why but I struggled and it took me 2 hours I was a bit upset, I had done loads of ow swimming and felt comfortable in the water, although I did feel very cold, specially on the last half mile or so. Ah well, I made the cut off which was the main thing...
looks like we have it sorted! not sure I could do 5k in 1 45 at moment, anyway pools are pools , the real swimmers get in open water even if it's only a 10ft deep concrete trough! That bike course won't know what hit it! And how glad am I not to be running.
Just got your details, will write it down as is my way ( things may never get erased from the internet, but I will never find them again) luddite
Just watched the Outlaw on TV, and saw they'd pulled a guy out for being too slow on the swim. That was 5 minutes off being me (1:55 swim), so I need to get swimming this winter!
I think the guy that didn't make the swim took quite a bit over 2 hours. I took around 2 hours and he was still quite a way up the lake as I walked back down. On the results list there is someone with a 2:19 swim that is down as DNF so I am guessing that was him.
if you look at the results there were a few people that swam more than 2 hours but finished the race - but crucially they had time to get through transition and out onto the bike - you need to be out on the bike by 8:20 I think.
but try to sort your swimming out - I took a lot longer than I thought I would this year, if I hadn't actually done all the training I have then I probably wouldn't have made it.
I would guess and it is just that, that they hope it will sell out without any Relay team entered. They don't have to worry about the hassle of two extra transition areas and the first across the line would be the race winner and not a relay team and then the individual winner.
Maybe they think the extra 50 quid for a relay team or whatever it was is not worth the hassle when they know they can sell out the event to individuals?
of course, one way round it would be to enter as an individual on Weds and then change it to relay at some point in the future as they do allow changes, not sure if there is a charge for changes
Same here. I've loved doing Outlaw for the past 2 years - and I'm not finished with it yet - but I don't want it to become an "I do that every year thing" so I'm not playing next year (probably Vichy instead). Somehow I've ended up with 2 pre-reg emails. If anyone wants one PM me with an email address and I'll send it over.

2.4 miles an hour is after alll a slow walk pace!

nice one , going to watch the re-run on monday.
I did not understand 90% of the last couple pages. Maths? Ho ho ho.
I am counting down the days before we can finally enter

Watching the swim and there was a few people who, I thought would not make he cut off and by some margin
Mathschick, Meldy - thanks, makes me feel a bit better! Still going to need to do something about that, though - its a bit too close.
you have a year to work on the swim.so no excuses.its like everything...if you are truly crap then just practising will make huge improvements...
Seren - grin, agreed. Should be able to take at least 5 minutes out of that time!

You ought to see how many finished with a time of 16.59.59......;;,,;
watched it today, put all my memories of burning hot 32 degree Nottingham back in their proper place
For information, relay teams can't enter using VIP link - in the email it states:
"If you wish to enter a relay team, then you will need to enter via the general entries that open on Thursday 17 September at 9am."
cheers, will open my link! I wonder why that is?

stop saying such things FF!!
of course, one way round it would be to enter as an individual on Weds and then change it to relay at some point in the future as they do allow changes, not sure if there is a charge for changes
and on the facebook page it says the VIP links should work for relays - that was posted last week
would be inclined to agree with ff, that is if I didn't believe that they believe in the race as a package for all.
let us see what happens on the stroke of 9 on Thursday
I will be seeing if I can enter as a relay tomorrow
I pre registered but won't be using the link, (Entered IM Wales 2016, Yesterday)
Not sure if this of any use to anyone?
so , in true pirate fashion ,is it recommended to just try to get a relay team in tomorrow?
Sorry that was a little unclear! does anyone want to use my pre-registration link, if so PM me with your e-mail and I will send it over?
I'll be trying to enter tomorrow.... it's 9 weeks after Lanza, so should be good timing for a wee break, and then a second wind!
citizen - won't hurt to try
My pre-registered link has gone to a good home.
For future reference a mate e-mailed the organiser and apparently you are allowed to transfer these between friends
