Dislike trick or treat. ..same as penny for the guy....you spend most of the year telling your kids not to take sweets from strangers and then you encourage them to knock on strangers doors asking for sweets.....its just another form of begging....
Will not answer the door and have never let my kids beg from others..
Begging is a bit strong Seren. I gave something to all the kids that knocked on my door and it is nice to see there faces light up. Everyone had the adults with them.
In our close the locals ask in advance if it is ok to knock to trick or treat, which is quite civilised.
I do agree with Seren though. It is both begging and a bad example to kids that should avoid getting up close with strangers. The paedos must love having youngsters turn up at their doors in fishnet tights and makeup.
So they have adults with them...but in their mind now every door they have knocked on is no longer a stranger as their parents encouraged them to go there....
And how us it anything but begging....knocking on a strangers door and asking for sweets or money...they are not cutting your grass or washing your car
Luckily there are not many paedos around....or they would have a crowd of young children who from tonight think they are friends as their parents said is was OK to take sweets from them....
Kids have probably got as much to fear from friends and family members as strangers. It might be a form of begging but as long as they realise that it is a special occasion (which they do as it is only once a year) then I hardly think it does kids any harm. It's just a bit of harmless fun, people need to lighten up a bit.
Seren. I think kids are intelligent enough to recognise the difference from tonight ( Halloween ) and other times and know the difference about taking sweets from strangers.
But anyway, it was good fun. They had all made a real effort with the costumes, were having a lovely time and mostly were under the age of 8. If you want to put a downer on that I have to say you really ought to take a look at yourselves to be quite honest.

I thought you had made an amazing effort, compared to my evening in front of the fire with a glass of wine and a book, but if you are unable to accept any sort of compliment perhaps you need the mirror

Hence, why they carry a witches cauldron.
About 5 minutes I think.
Why what did you do Dave, discover a cure for the common cold?

Quite. Some of the adults were dressed up too.

Fair enough, my bad. Sorry for being witchy.
