Hi there.
I'm doing a bit of research into where people tend to look for help and guidance when first contemplating the step up from marathon to ultra. As part of this I hope you can help answer my short one-question poll...
Would you seek online support from someone like Mo Farah, Dean Karnazes, or Hal Higdon? Or someone else completely???
Feel free to reply with comments and share the link with your friends. huge thanks in advance for your contributions! Steve.

Done. Of the three names Dean Karnazes is the most likely, but I'd rather go for a book aimed at first timers, not written by somebody who has ultra running as second nature.
Thanks Rob!
None of above - not that they are not brilliant, but as Rob says - not for first timers.
Personally, rather than 1 book, this or fellrnr site have more information for a newbie.

SD - you are in the perfect place here - I did my first ultra (Comrades) last year and garnered a wealth of knowledge from the good people on that thread. There are also general threads on ultra too - I haven't purchased any books.
Agree with Lowrez - there's a wealth of information on here, I've had very helpful support both for Comrades and the Paris marathon. But I'd have liked another option on your list for 'specialist ultra trainer' - the books Relentless Forward Progress by Bryon Powell and So You Want to Run An Ultra by Andy Mouncey are both useful.
Yes RR, so is the fairly recent Hal Koerner's Field Guide to Ultrarunning.
Also - no disrespect - Mo is not exactly known as an ultra runner.
Thanks all. Great responses. Yes, I was assuming the Mo option wouldn't appeal but wanted to check. I'm doing some research into a new ebook for ultra runners. I'll be sure to post again on here with an update once the project has progressed. Thanks again. Steve.
Krissy Moehl has also written a book recently, called "Running your first ultra"
