Just had a word with local postman, he recons they've been warned of a "high-volume delivery" week ending 15/10, so seems like a few days yet! Did think all rejection would have been by email this time though, fingers crossed ???? and good luck ????
They will do the rejection magazines for all the charity ads...people will flick through it...an emsil they will read sod off and then just close it down
According to the VMLM website it says the following....
Q. When do I find out if I have secured a place through the ballot? A. The results of the ballot for the 2017 race are announced in October 2016. The earliest date you will hear from us is Monday 10 October and all applicants should have heard the outcome by Monday 17 October. If you have not heard from us by Tuesday 18 October, please contact our Helpdesk team on 020 7902 0200. Please do not call before that date.
Everyone from the UK who gains a place in the ballot is sent the Congratulations magazine. A random selection of approximately half of unsuccessful applicants will be sent the Commiserations magazine and the remainder will be sent an e-zine version. Overseas applicants will be contacted via email.
Thanks for that CC, assume they will start posting out tomorrow so they get the weekend free before the complaints start on Monday, lol hope all peeps are successful
Cinders, don't be disappointed just yet, I checked mine a couple of hours ago and was told"no details" but I deferred last year , page may be up but not functioning ????
I just had success, in terms of me being able to log in to that link, and it then takes me to a "Payment page". But I haven't yet filled out the payment page (which asks for card details) and proceeded with payment.....
I have another way you can try - it'll tell you whether you have the email rejection or not - so not a definite yes but would mean better odds?
Go into any email you have received from Virgin Money London marathon. On the red banner at the top there is an 'unsubscribe' option - click into that and it will list all the newsletters you're subscribed to.
If you are going to get the ezine email rejection, it will list "2017 e zine" as one of your subscriptions. Just another game to play - will mean some of us are put out of our misery sooner?
I don't have the ezine but couldn't pay using the link so assume I'm a no again.....
Wasn't signed up to the ballot ezine, but tried the payment link and my details not recognised, so now fully expecting the sorry mag ???? oh well, Belfast it is!
I have to confess that I did have a randomly lucky ballot streak of 3 out of 3 way back when ballot places were more achievable - so I reckon I used up all my luck then....
that is bad luck. I've done Halstead a couple of times - it's a couple of weeks after London and is a fabulous well run country marathon - any good for you?
Unfortunately MrsPB its bad luck more and more people will be experiencing. Based on something like 1:16 chance of getting in on ballot if people apply for next 11 years they are only marginally more likely to get a place than not. And something like a third of people won't get in even if they apply for next 15 years!

Interesting catch! I have the e-zine link so guess I'm not in!
Thanks Gladrags and Keith L. I was lucky enough to do it in 2005, under the old rules of 5 rejections in a row so an automatic place the following year. I now just enter every year, mainly to see if one day I may actually get picked!

in the past someone from the post office would give us a nod when the magazines started hitting the main sorting offices

Looks lime the dreaded moment has arrived, the payment page for 2017 is open, good luck!!!!
Just tried it and it failed so guess that's a no.
Where is the payment page? Have you got a link?

Thanks Dave, will keep trying.
Definately don't think link is set up, has anyone had success?

I had the negative message but might be the wrong password...but most likely rejection as they have rejected me every year for over a decade

I guess that would mean you may get the rejection mag as opposed to the email.
I can't enter a password and I am subscribed to the e-zine
the e zine is the kiss of death I'm afraid - at least you know? I'm thinking I might try the revamped Cardiff marathon if I don't get London.....
If that's the case, Gladrags, I'm a reject. Takes me to a fairly unimpressive 0/3 so far.
My club has two places I might try for, or I've GFA for 2018 (unless they move the goalposts) now anyway.

Good luck everyone.
15 rejections from 15 ballots. Can anyone beat that for sheer bad luck??
Never mind Good luck to all those who do get in.

But you got to be in it to win it!
I know there are loads of other marathons, but I'm really pleased.
Bad luck to all those who haven't got a place.
