Hi all,
A friend recently told me about a 15 mile cross-country race that used to takeplace at Offa's Dyke.
Unfortunatley, I haven't been able to find any I formation about this event online. Does anyone know anything about it, and is it still running, at all?
Your help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,

T Roesler,
ran it once and my mind has blanked it. I think it started from knighton mid Wales
but where we ran to, for the life of me I cant remember.
I have not seen it advertised for years, which leaves me to believe it is no longer run.
I think it was classed as a fell race try on their web site, WFA.
Did it a number of times but sadly is no more
I ran it each year until 2001 when the Foot and Mouth Disease gave the elderly organisers the chance to call it a day. They tried in previous years to get help, but none came.
A coach was laid on to take the runners to Knighton from Hay on Wye which was the finish of the 14+ mile race.
It was a fantastic race, my favourite in fact.
There's the Offa's Orror:

20K multi terrain; tough but set in some beautiful countryside.
Thanks for all your replies, guys.
It's a shame this event is no more, however, I will give the Offa's 'Orror a go next year I think. Had a look at some race photos and it looks pretty good..
Thanks again everyone!
Used to do this run every year, it actually started in Hay on Wye and finished in Kington (not Knighton). It dd stop because of the foot and mouth epidemic and never started agin. Enjoyed it so much that we have been back to Kington camping and trainng over the same weekend every year since the race finished.
Thank you Portite. I did look at the map and thought Knighton was a little far to make up a 15ish mile route.
If it was as good as everyone says, it may be worth going for a training weekend with the lads or something of the sort..
Do you know whether I can find a map of the route online somewhere?
It's well worth going for a weekend a with tads lads, Kington is a great base, such a friendly pace with a really good camp site 200 yds from the High Street.
If you do an Internet search you can find a few different accounts from people who have walked from Hay to Kington you can also buy a route map on line, just search the Offas Dyke path and select the section from Hay to Kington.
Were actually there next weekend, can't wait!
Wow, sounds great. Thanks again for the input.

Hopefully this will be good news for you. The Offa's Dyke 15 is going to be in existence once more!!! For the past few months we've been in touch with the original Race Director who has both given his blessing to and has been instrumental in resurrecting the race. We're really excited to announce this news because it was one of our favourite races. We're hoping it'll happen on the August bank holiday this year. I'll let you know when entry is officially open.

Hi Sarah,
Wow, that is fantastic news! Where can I sign up?
Cheers,
Torsten
Brilliant news, just gutted that I'm out of the country on holiday at the end of August! Hopefully it will be the start of many. Good luck with the organisation
Heard this rumour from my older brother who ran it in the 90s. Dying to give it a go, so please post details when known! Aug BH would be perfect for me.
Remember travelling down to do this race with Thurrock Rugby Club and Thurrock Nomads in the 1980's. Now live 20 miles away. Great news to see it back!
You're all the first to officially hear the news so it's great that you're as excited we are. The moment the entry has opened I'll let you know. It'll be on our website - www.tempoevents.co.uk.
Hi, just read about this in the Hereford Times. Is there a website for this race yet? Longing to have a go!
Hi Everyone,
Entry is officially open now. Click on the following link to view more info on the race or to enter.

We're really looking forward to it!!!
Can't wait to do this run
I have submitted my entry - can't wait to take part in this race..
I also completed this event but I can't remember the year .. does anyone have a link to the results for the 1977 - 2001 period ? I've searched to no avail.
I'd be interested as well in looking at the results. Not sure if I've bitten off more than I can chew entering this one!
From memory going sub 2 hours was always the target, I think my best was around 1hr 45m. They're used to be a cut off time which I think was 2h30? Are they having that this time?
Sounds like it was a good race. Will give it a go now that it is back on. 30th August 2015. Hear it has a few hills!
Is the cut off 2hr30mins?
It's great to hear you're all both reminising and looking forward to the new start for this epic race. We're trying to compile all the results that have happened in the past and we'll place them on the events website - http://www.tempoevents.co.uk/running/offas-dyke/offas-dyke.php. There is a cut off because we're relying on the goodwill of all the marshals. The cut off is 3 hours. The course record was set in the first year in 1977 and it's still 1h24!!!! See you on 30th August.
Would you recommend trail shoes? Getting close, getting nervous, it sound a tough one.
Only just seen this. So great to hear that it has returned.
I ran the Offas Dyke race about 4 times in the last 1980s - had a love hate relationship with the course. Would love to run it again, but will need to find some more hills to train on first.
Yvonne W is that the same Yvonne from P+D that I know ran Offas dyke.
2017 event details available here:- http://www.tempoevents.co.uk/events/offas-dyke-15/, Sunday 18th June 2017. Well organised event, not for the faint hearted, cracking scenery.
