I am so amazed, so little info about this 2nd biggest UK Marathon. I so want to know, is there a Finish Time Limit ?. I cant even get in touch with the Orgenizers Please Help
I'll be doing this. Did the half the last two years. Course from 6-23 miles seems to mirror that for the most part which means there's not much chance of a PB. People if Birmingham always come out to cheer you on though, and it's great if you like jelly babies
Got stiffed by Monarch trying to get back from Rome for this. 100 euros lost. had to book an emergency replacement flight with Ryanair to East Midlands. By hook or by crook I will be at the start line!
I cannot see how (apart from walking) how to get back to the start (parking) from the finish. I have raised the question with organisers but they have not replied, apart from get the shuttle bus from the centre which is useless has first train does not arrive until 8:24 and start is 8:30
Great run events are so difficult to get any info from. There's not even a telephone number. With London you can just ring up.
I've followed several discussions on strava that suggested other than at miles 13 and 22 (Bourneville) it is flat. I had in my head it was following much of the old half route which I always found challenging.
The other area that isn't clear is that whilst there are 2 start times and various pacers, there doesn't appear to be any form of controlled start pens.
In terms of getting back to the start after the race, there are trains right through sunday afternoon from Birmingham new st to Perry Barr and it tales about 12 minutes. It would probably only be 10-12 by taxi.
Im bypassing the issue by simply getting a taxi to the start.
I have received replies (Facebook & Twitter) and have been told there will be shuttle busses running between the finish and start. Good running and good luck
I would still suggest the train would be a better option as it wont get caught up in road closures and city traffic.
I have been trying to find out who the 3 hour pacer is. I have been told by another pacer that they currently don't have one. They really ought to make this public as a lot of people will be planning to follow.
I hope everyone enjoyed the race and sorted the logistics out. For me, having only ever run London, I found it extremely challenging with the climbing involved. I am glad that come mile 26 but race was over in terms of goals I was chasing and that mile would have crushed them in any event.
