Heel pain...

Hey everyone i am not a big runner, doing about three 3 milers and one longer run a week which has been building up to doing a half with running buddies on xmas eve. We are up to 11 miles on long run and i finding it easy, but after last two runs i have a dull ache in heel of right foot. My wife convincing me its plantair fischiatus? .... Really want to do the half next weekend but not at risk of injury. I have ordered new trainers do you think its fine to just run and see how it goes or do i need to miss it? Really worried about long term injury as i suffer from depression when i don't run regularly. Thanks for any advice, Happy Xmas !
p.s. I not new to running did London Marathon this year but did have a big break after that for a few months.

If you do have plantar fasciitis running your half marathon won't make that much of a difference.  PF can take a long time to heal so one extra race won't matter.  Although Googling injuries can bring up a lot of scare scenarios you might want to see if you do have the symptoms.   Friends I've known with PF have had much more than a dull ache.  Hopefully your new trainers should help if the cushioning has gone in the ones you're using now.

I would run your race, see how you are after that and it doesn't clear up with a little less training then go and see a physio in the New Year and get a proper diagnosis.  Unfortunately injuries are a part of distance running so if you have a spell when you can't run, replace it with another activity that you can do, I know it's not the same as running but it will only be temporary.

Indeed rather see a foot specialist like a Podiatrist who also knows manual therapy .
