Fox pee? Help!

My wife has banned my trainers to the garage because they smell of some kind of animal pee. 
I run several times a week in countryside so I’m thinking I’ve run through some long grass or something that an animal has marked. I’m thinking it’s likely to be a fox.
I thought I’d put them through the washing machine at 20 degrees but this made no difference. I then tried again at 30 and they look nice and clean but smell just as bad.
Not keen to go for any higher temperature. Any ideas what this is and how I can get rid of it? I fear I might be next to be banned to the garage...
