I'm 30 years old, female and asthmatic and get mine checked every time I see the asthma nurse. I average between 400 and 450 but as PH says, I think it is only useful to an asthmatic if you are tracking variation because it can give you an indicator of when you are prone to an attack...so I've never been able to see the point of only having it done every so often at the doctors.
Thanks for all the responses...makes me feel much happier. I could vaguely remember getting 300-400 when I was younger, but I saw those results and thought my memory must be going
To use the calculator you need to fill in all the white boxes down the left: age, height, you probably won't know your FVC1 or FEV so i suggest you put any value in these boxes. A zero will do, the calculator won't work without a value. Choose your sex and click calculate.
I'm not asthmatic, I'm a regular runner and my peak flow is only around the 450 mark. Doctor says I'm disgustingly healthy, so at 700 I'd say you are certainly healthy

700 sounds v good

Any asthmatic constriction and it falls fairly dramatically, I believe.
It varies according to the time of day and what you're doing.
Asthmatics can have much lower readings, but with correct treatment and developement exercises they can get quite close to "Normal"
I'm a 46 and my last reading was around 690
700! I wish!
Guess kicking the cigs really does help, then...
