Ale - hope it's good news. I assume if they told you the size of the tear that means it's not a complete tear all the way through, which I think is better and if it tore 6cm it must be in the body of the muscle rather than at the tendon/insertion point which is usually quicker for recovery. My recollection of hamstring anatomy is a bit vague unfortunately, hopefully it's good news from the specialist. Are you hoping they say surgery to heal quicker, or leave it alone and it'll get better without surgery?
Can't remember what day I last posted 30 mins easy on Monday Rest Tuesday Yesterday - 7 miles with 6 x 0.5 miles at vo2max. First speedwork in a long time so eased in to it (repeats started at 3:30 and progressed to 3:06 I think). Thinking of Ale, was conscious of my hamstrings as fast running when I'm not used to it tends to strain mine a bit. Did 20 mins stretching and yoga last night and things feel ok so far today.
Planning an easy hour today, then rest tomorrow ahead of a 10 mile race on Saturday. Will try and call in again later after the run
Lyrics: yes. Will be thinking about this place at the weekend!
Chamolk, it is a tear of the tendon, 5cm down from the origin, if I have understood correctly. I have an open mind and will go with the advice that I get from the consultants.
Emz: I bet coming back to the UK was a shock in several respects!
Els, OH: are we nearly there yet?
Enjoy your runs Hazel and Chamolk!
Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

What - 45mins easy done, kids coaching later , so another 2 or 3 easy Why - just miles last rest - 21/09 last hard - Tuesday lyric - not sure I do
1 hr easy done. Wore the chest HRM for the first time in a while and was pleasantly surprised at the HR for that route (easy pace but a bit hilly in parts). Legs felt surprisingly good after yesterday's session - one wee moment of doubt about the hamstring near the start then fine after that.
Trying a beetroot smoothie currently. A friend was talking about possibly trying the beetroot shots and was wondering if there was any benefit to them over actual beetroot and as far as we can tell it's just convenience mostly - it looks like each shot has about the same level of nitrate as a beetroot, so I thought I'd try smoothies for a few days and see if it made any difference (plus I'll get the benefits of the whole beetroot rather than whatever nitrate bit they extract).
1 raw beetroot, 1 orange, blueberries, ginger root and apple juice - it's not the nicest smoothie I've had, but it's ok. Still a bit of chewing involved though as its fairly fibrous.
Hope you got the run done Hazel
Emz - sounds like a nice race. I'd like to try a 50k sometime, but I keep getting distracted by marathons
Always good to get something in before work Pammie
Emz, good luck with ultra sounds nice. Nearly there yet, nope as after 3 hours sleep sue to rough seas spent morning and early afternoon with friend in Perthshire. On our way again but sadly Edinburgh bypass will be grim at this time of day. Not for to go tomorrow but seeing another friend. Then early start sat so going to be tired. Walk on alyth hill thisorning with friend and her dog. Ale, most of these tendon injuries are degenerative and likely to be treated conservatives if possible, most common one is Achilles tear, hardly ever operated on these days....however in your case I don't know.
Evening all I love beetroot 😂😂 Nice running chamolk Well done Pammie Chick cor that's some miles! Dustin enjoy part two So I got stuck in traffic and couldn't let Hayley know, I literally got to our meeting point in my car as she arrived, I said start your session I'll join if I can. Did terribly short warm up, 3+mins, 6 off the hill efforts, Hayley had done 6 already! Then half mile jog home. I'm glad I did it and didn't fancy more tbh

Hazel it was the many late nights in a row and the long flight that's taken it out of me completely.
Ohh not heard of that book, must check it out.
I'm doing the black country, it's just over 50 km. Not really done any training though so we'll see how that goes...

Also fingers crossed for Els.
chamolk: Beetroot is just yuck. I can't get it down. I took some capsules prior to a marathon but I don't think it made any difference.
Hopfuelly chamolk is right, Ale. Wondering what sort of exercise you will be able to do. OH talking about aqua running may be a good option.
Hope the progression run goes well, Hazel.
I forgot to post yesterday 19,5km done on a beautiful sunny but cold morning. And 10 today.
I love beetroot 😂😂

Well done Pammie
