Long run cycle 7, 10, 14 days

Anybody ever tried or doing a long run every 10 or 14 days rather than the usual 7 days?

Many training plans have the longer runs every 14 days and a step back distance on the in-between weeks.

10 day cycles work well too.

You don't have to do a very long run every week, increasing the distance.   For some runners that can be too tiring.

Just write your training plan to fit in with your lifestyle.

Thank you Shades - my worry is that from my last long run I will lose condition when I come to do it again in 2 weeks time. Or is this where I have to build up more miles in between to combat this? Thank you

Of course you won't lose condition.   Training takes about 3 weeks to have effect.

You should have a good base mileage and your long run shouldn't be too high a percentage of your weekly mileage total anyway, irrespective of how often you do a long run.
