I suppose I *could* trawl through the archives to read what everyone said at the time, but what was the verdict on the Loch Ness marathon? I'm considering entering next year, and I'd be interested to know what this year's competitors thought.
600 people bussed to the start, to be met with loos, tea, coffee, soup and enough water to float a ship. All kit bags safely transported back to the finish in a fleet f vans (one driven by Mr Nessie). Pipe band escorted the runners the few hundred yards to the start. Water and Lucozade Sport every 3 miles. Fantastic scenery (good weather not guaranteed every year, but perfect this year). Sparse but enthusiastic spectators. City centre finish with a lap of the running track. Fab medal and good quality t-shirt (that fits!) and the best goodie bag ever, sponsored by Baxters, the soup people, who also provided the trophies for the winners (Bronze statues of the Baxter's Stag).
Pasta party the night before, and more pasta/salad for the finishers. Massages could be had for a donation to the organisers charity.
For a first running of an event, you just couldn't fault it.
