oh and they have played with many of the same toys - but not in the same way

eg she has all his old Playmobil rescue men and pirates and stuff, and loves them, but primarily because she likes taking all the hats off and sorting them out
he used to play with them too, but seemed less aware of the millinery possibilities
• Options
strangely one of the things i always did with action men was to pull down their pants and check they were anatomically correct

actually i probably did the same thing to boys at that age too

hey well done on throwing out the too big clothes DPH - a great feeling. I am determined not to grow back into the too big stuff.
I have also thrown out too small stuff - on the grounds if (big IF) I ever get back to a size 14 I will deserve new clothes, rather than ones I have not worn for 12 years.
And I love the new pic.

back from London

my bag contains

four x rays of my right ankle/foot
and ...well that's it

damn damn damn

truth is , i walked the length of harley street .......but i never made it to the shops because of work problem that kicked off bigtime this morning and meant i had to stay at pc instead of leaving early enough to get time for shopping pre doc appt at 5pm

Even my cunning plan to trick myself into leaving an hour early was foiled by two people phoning, in sequence, both of whom having been unobtainable for 6 months!!!!!!

How could i not take those calls..even if it was right when i was meant to be leaving?(these people must know when i am planning to leave the building right?)

I didn't even see the parade of formula one cars in central london that stymied my travel plans and only just made it to doc with 1 min 20 secs to spare before portcullis-secretary activated

I have completely failed in my sartorial mission. Nil points
Thread, please forgive me

I did get to see the doc though
(hhmmm)

positive side about today:

a)i congratulate myself on finding a parking place right near a tube station and just outside the congestion charging zone .

A new gherkin-shaped knowledge bump will grow on my head to accomodate the grid reference for this secret address.

b) i did not hit anyone over dinner - at my parents house

c) i now know where my mum spent the war as a kid and how miserable it was for her :-(
(you can see the kind of evening i had)<

flr - i love the sound of the phrase
"millinery possibilities"
please please use it as much as poss

strangely enough , i got a millinery possibility myself today - the post brought a voucher for

www.lockhatters.co.uk

weirdly included in my british 10k race pack

although f*ck all chance of my running that distance i sense -
doc says i can run - eventually without pain he thinks - but seems to want to go down the orthotics route
so now i just wish i'd gone to a podiatrist 6 months ago and not wasted all this time trying to find and get to , special doc

he also tried to tell me my foot was deformed using some more polite word than that obviously (don't worry it's not)

but he settled in the end for my having an "anatomical variation"
a tiny extra bone below the ankle, that you can't see unless i point it out
it's been there since birth and never bothered me

anyway, nothing to do with the thing that hurts - torn ligaments from a specific incident - so a complete red herring in my view
but at least he had same reaction to mine as regards GP suggestion that have arthritis
ie piffle

best not bore you with more ankle details here but not entirely sure it was worth all the effort to see special doc

he said lots of words and paid a reasonable amount of attention , but not sure where i am at the end of it

so i am going to make up a fantasy shopping bag to cheer me up and hopefully entertain ..

so my bag contains

a) three really nice fitted blouses from the "perfect" range M&S that actually fit fat short women really well
in colours that make me look bright and cheery but also business like

b) a v long jacket - calf length - that makes me look tall and sexy in a colour that goes with everything. from barkers perhaps

c) some black, boot-cut trousers that look great with a and b

d) some incredibly OTT boots like pic, that fit -incredibly - round my footballers calf muscles

e) some diamond earrings because.. well.. just because

f) some makeup (Because i have NONE whatsoever) and an instruction book on how to put it on (cause i ain't got a clue)<

g)a thong - because everyone else wears 'em and it's about time they made them in size 18. (well they do but not v sexy ones as far as i can see)

h)a very nice looking, yet supportive, bra that hasn't yet been invented

i) a new car radio because mine's packed up

j) some other electrical gadget that is not too costly yet very handy - answers please on that one

k) a thing that turns your 'puter off after a certain time of night so you can't stay up late po..............

[CLUNK]

not sure what to say about the ankle - CAN YOU PLOD?

was told I had arthritis by GP about 18 years ago - as am still plodding seems to have been piffle also

thanks for the appreciation - confess was pleased with this phrase myself and will ensure its daily use

flr

oh

and try figleaves for your underwear requirements - I find them vg on big bras and stuff
• Options
thanks flr

i can plod a little so i am sticking with that. i am going to attempt this 5k at weekend but will walk alot
i am a bit confused as to where i am with it now. it's very off and on
i think next step is to go down the non-surgical non-bone route
(orthopaedic surgeon was wrong type of specialist in retrospect) but at least have ruled out bone probs and you get pushed down consultant route if you go via GP

did i mention this doc specialised in ballet dancers? funny reading back
no wonder he thought i had "very tight hamstrings for a woman"

am not too fed up about ankle but not ecstatic either
interesting that you got silly diagnosis from doc also

hippo - (i do love your new pic) why are you angry with yourself ?

btw i am *still* in my XL mens jumper days - send 'em down here !

son back tonight. quite apprehensive as to how he will be, as his behaviour normally dive bombs on return from 'the other place'

also, i was just getting the knack of this young free and single lark and it will be weird for me to get back in 'mummy' mode!

must plan new date for clothes trip else will go out in street in pure figleaves at this rate

calling all hoarders !!

have a look at the ad on the right hand side of

www.carbootcalendar.com

they are making a new series called "chaos clinic"
(same people as "life laundry") and they want guinea pigs
• Options
i'm very tempted to be in it if they will sort me out but who wants the whole world to know how much of a mess i'm in?

it's not like i'd talk about it in public or anything..

;-)

• Options
I am quite happy living in chaos thank you very much!! I brought and paid for it all and its staying with me!!
• Options
LOL IMM

i wish i could say the same but it actually bothers me to be in this mess

i am going down the car boot sale route

i think i will feel less sad about getting rid of stuff if i can flog it
that appeals to my entrepreneurial side

if i get a wad of cash, i can give half to charity and then that will assuage my conscience too

have been scouting for good boot sales in my area. that also means i have a date by which i have to clear the stuff.

deadlines are good for me
