I keep hearing stories of excrutiating pain, cramp, sore arm pits, joggers nipple, and blisters etc....... all happening during the course of the marathon.
Is it true? are there anymore to add? and what can we do about preventing them?
Tape the nipples c plasters or micropore. Make sure socks are good quality Get right shoes for your feet and make sure not worn down too much OR not broken in enough before the marathon. Vaseline to those bits that rub- groins/arms/whatever ! Train hard but steady. eat well and drink lots water. Good luck !!
I read in the FLM mag that the girl who plays Charity from Emmerdale ate a sweet at about 23 miles given to her by a passer by...she promptly threw it up. Take a sick bag!
Try Falke socks - brilliant - I use their running, trekking and skiing versions and never had a problem. Different running versions - thicker and more padded for training, lighterweight for racing. Also do ladies versions. Not cheap but excellent.
Chris ,I also use thorlos run 10 lite, They are really comfortable. I did try 1000 mile socks when trainin for last years FLM but did get probs with blisters. Thorlos seem to suit me better. I paid £9.99
I wouldnt have thougt that feet so swell so much that you need extra big shoes ! probably do more damage than good ! Get some good fitting stbale cushioned shoes that are right for you- and stick with them. I am sure feet do swell but in my opinion not so much you need to get extra size ones. ( if running in the dessert and 40d than this would apply !).

All true, I'm afraid!
The best way of preventing them is to not run.

I use Thorlos running socks and they are really good. Never had a blister with them.
I've always used Vaseline on my nipples, and it's worked for me.
Can't remember what make my socks are off-hand, but they're double layer, and pretty good.
true?
should I get them now and wear them on my long runs?
