these forumms are a great source of informtaion - I have been looking for a 10k in my local area and had no idea this was on , so THANKS.
I have only just started regularly achieving 5k and progress on training up to 10K is not going well so I will not be ready by 28th July. BUT If the worst comes to the worst I know that I can run half then walk half.
Can you let me know where I can sign up for this race and how you got on last year and most important of all will I look a complete lemon if I only end up walking.
I know what you mean about the hills - is there any chance that the run will follow a perpetually downwards course ?
I always run on the flat bits near here but I quite like hills - its great to hear that there is at least a possibility that someone else may be walking this !
Thanks very much - I will give it a go - what a great impetus to my training !!!!
I will be holidaying in the Lakes on the 14th but I can't say I'm sorry to be missing running up Reigate Hill Maybe next year !!
It is really great to hear about local events - I am new to this game and have not yet got in tune with finding races so this is a big help.

its amazing that you lasted a mile without shoes !
leaving my running shoes at home is one of my best excuses for failing to stick to my training program - today's excuse is that I could not get in to the gym at work but I will try to go out this evening.
Fellranger the Reigate race does not go up Reigate hill (at least I'm fairly sure that it doesn't) BUT the Gatton one is 'on the hill'!!! There is no chance of it all being downhill!
I usually do about 10 races ( i use the term loosely in my case) from 10k to half marathons, and every time I struggle round this course I say at the end, 'never again'
But as they say 'time is a great healer' and no doubt I will be back again this year.
God though it is tough, especially at my age - 68. But at the back of everyones mind theres always the thought 'I wonder if i can beat last years time.
Fellranger Gatton 10k is the toughest of summer races, most do it once and that's it!! However it's through the Royal Alexander & Albert school area so woody and single file in places. If you want some running company why not pop along to Reigate Priory AC. They are friendly club accomodating all abilities and have 2 training sessions a week to suit everyone. SOme go out and about in small groups. Either pop to Old Reigations Rugby ground Tues/Thurs 7pm or go to website rpac.org.uk Good luck with the running!
Oh and thanks for the invite! Don't think I'll join you for the Tri bit though, hopefully the swimming'll improve while I'm on holiday but cycling's about 25 years rusty ...
Tiger - I'm just hoping not to drown in the swim and that I make it home in one piece!
Can't believe that two people have said they can't come out that day because they are doing a half ironman - is that the new version of "sorry I'm washing my hair"?
Many people from my running club have said the Gatton 10k is demanding, not keen on running off road so now having some serious doubts about this one. Having said that it is a beautiful area, so walking/admiring the view does sound like an option! ;o)
Hi Tiger, Yes I am indeed! It's a bit hot today though - whinge whinge whinge !! ;o) see you there! I'll be the one in the red Reigate Priory vest with my face probably a similar colour!
mel 3 - good luck tonight, thought you ran this last year? Obviously not else you wouldn't be running it again - did you do Holly Run last year? It's as tough. Come on REIGATE PRIORY!!!
I've already run twice since last night, and have a 50k race on Sunday, so am on taper now - target time no less than 60 mins (no I'm serious about that!)

It certainly is hilly, definitely agree with that! But if you do this, then choose a flat 10K next, you'll have a fantastic PB :-)
The Reigate 10K's on the 14th I think? Did that one last year, that's got quite a challenging hill in it too ....
I always run on the flat bits near here but I quite like hills - its great to hear that there is at least a possibility that someone else may be walking this !
next time though, I must remember to take some running shoes - barefoot is not a sensible alternative!

Does anyone still have the results from last year?
See you all there :-)

Snoop - you have mail!
Hmmmmm, more hills, everything I do's got hills in it at the moment!
I did the Surrey Slog! And for my next race ... the Jog Shop 20 :-)
I expect I'll be in my Epsom Allsorts top tonight ... somewhere near the back.
Come on REIGATE PRIORY!!!
I'll be in URWFRC tonight somewhere behind Tiger!
is there a prize for 'Le Lanterne Rouge'?
Enjoy!
let's just hope they've got the showers working this time (unlike last year)
in this heat, there's certainly a need of 'em!
