i got the 'large' frame, and i'm 6 foot 1, and my seat is pushed almost as far down as it will go. if nothing's changed, i'd guess that you'd want the 'medium'.
it would be definitely worth getting fitted if you're spending that much on a bike though.
I know nuffin about bikes (got mine given to me for free) but the equinox 11 does look soo...soo shexy. But I think the humiliation of pushing it up the hills in swiss would be enough to put me off getting one. At least if ive got a naff bike I can pretend its the bikes fault that I am so slow.
if you want Titanium but don't want Litespeed prices - look at Omega (www.omegacycleworks.com) - Brighton based so you would be supporting a UK biz rather than a Yank one...
have just bought a custom sized Alchemy tricked with Chorus and Campag Neutrons - bit more than £2K but worth it.......just awaiting delivery early December
I'd get a £200 cheapy winter bike. Ride that through the crummy weather, and dream about your new superbike that you will only treat yourself to when you hit X amount of miles. Planning a superbike is always the best bit, and this would motivate you too.
AAARRRGHGHGHGH FB you git! I've just been to the omega website and now I want one.... Well, time to be very nice to pater and remind him it is my 21st this year. *grrrr*
I'm afraid only the Radius is even conceivably within some sort of price range. I spose if daddy wants to spend about a grand, and I put up the rest of the cash for the components, then it could happen...
What am I saying! This is madness! I don't HAVE 600 quid to put up!
one word of caution Buckers - I am not convinced an aero bike is best suited for the hilly OMCH course......you may find a road bike with tri-bars would be better for the climb sections - that's why I settled on an Omega........
Having preached about its virtues for the last few days, it appears a lot have/are about to be converted.
I thought I was going to get a really sexy machine - but it looks like I will have a common bike.
For those thinking about buying the Equinox - a few words of warning - I have just read reports that ... 1. The frame is very prone to flaking, scratching and discolours in even moderate sun light over a very short period of time. 2. The ultegra kit is all reproduction stuff from Iraq 3. Cracks in the bottom bracket have been frequently known to appear within the first month - and the bottom bracket is exclusively excluded from the Trek guarantee. I could go on - this is definately a very dodgy bike and I urge you ALL to buy something different, like a raleigh.
I hope this helps - you really dont want to go and waste £2000+ on a bike that is going to look really really naff.
behold the mighty equinox. actually you need the carbon x bars too. i wouldn't recommend the camelbak though... another daft race day experiment that went wrong
camelbaks are sh!te for ironman, just use the aid stations.
i've experimented with loads of methods of avoiding having to use the aid stations (for some reason), but i've always ended up just using them anyway. camelbaks are OK for long training rides, but that's about it. i lugged an extra 2kg all the way round at austria

this is going to take a couple of months to figure out though, so no hurry..

I also have a passion for the Quintana Roo Ti-phoon and the Litespeed Blade.
