I use a dustbin full of cold water for 10min after my trining runs on hot day's & thats bad enough. It's in the garden so the neighbour's must think I'm nut's!!
I tried standing in a kitchen bin of iced water when training for my first marathon as I was suffering from very sore calves-it worked! The first few minutes were the worse then your legs sort of go numb, along with your brain! Happy running!
Hmm, I must have completely blocked this from my memory - whilst at school I severely injured my right ankle, so when the footie season came around the following year and my school team went on tour, me and some of the other 'perma-injury' girls had to start our days my immersing our feet in buckets of ice cold water. Oh, the shock, but it did work, meaning that my ankle was immobile upon waking, and then mobile after the water-torture!
