I believe the Aussies can play as long as they like today, but that when the light level becomes REALLY low the umpires can offer "bad light" to the fielding side not just the batting side.
They are almost at the point where they won't have time to get the runs, but bear in mind that they will be "throwing the bat", and will be risking everything to win this test, so we need to keep at it for a bit longer. And yes, it ends today whatever.
Isn't there a cut off time or do the have to complete all the overs. Radio 4 yesterday were suggesting we slow the over rate right down and accept the resulting fine. Worth it for the Ashes, but possibly not in the spirit. Would rather win fair and square I reckon.
They used to say 5.30 if both captains agree there won't be a result. But I reckon the Aussies won't give up until they have to score at more than 6 a ball. And even then, they'll be aiming at the helmet behind the keeper.
1606: Pietersen launches Warne for a straight six and the great Australia spinner looks disconsolate. He looks even less happy when he is drilled for a straight four two balls later. A possible 40 overs remain.

1625: the Aussie's have no chance now.
1626: they don't like it up 'em.
What the? Where'd all these polystyrene crumbs come from?
Sorry. Got a bit peckish up there...
