I did this race last year and really enjoyed it. There are a few of us from Lincoln and District Runners off up to 'Geordie Land' to run in this years race. Must get my singing voice ready for the start.
Record entry level this year with entries closed after only 3 weeks so good luck to Rob and his helpers getting through the paperwork. Highly recommend you all stay up in Newcastle overnight after the race as it is a brilliant time ,however a word of warning if you go in a bar after the race put some tracksuit bottoms on as I got a few funny looks in the middle of town still wearing my shorts as I consumed the local nectar (Broon) to replenish the liquids lost during the run which was probably the hotest and wind free night in the North East last year! However once they saw the T shirt they understood. Look forward to seeing you in the Big Market at the start and join in the wor National anthem the Blaydon Races As we say up here gansteady marras hope to hear where you are all from
Not long now. Us 'Southerers' as you call us will be heading up the A1 to run in your great race. To quote you Geordies, we are hoping to have a reet canny time in the toon. I think I got that right. Anyway, I did have relatives that lived on North View, in Wickham at one time, so does that allow me the honour of being allowed to run in this race? See yaz all there!
This will be my 4th Blaydon and really looking forward to it as thisd is one of my favourite races. 8 of us crossing Hadrians Wall from Edinburgh for a raiding party and a night in the Toon thereafter. Will be passing up on the tripe but hope to meet up with others in the Geordie Ridley at the finish. Will have to be on my best behavior as I'm doing the Edinburgh Marathon Relay on the Sunday!
ooooh melads 4 weeks tagan aa can hear the starting bell gannin and for our visitors from over the border bring plenty of money to enable consumption of the local nectar, Shearer's party last night was just a warm up for the 9th gansteady
I saw your review of Garmin 305. How big is the digital display? I would like to be able to read it without putting reading glasses on. My eyesight is Ok in reasonable outdoor light and I do not want to carry glasses with me on a run.
Purchased 305 this afternoon. I read on some other threads about some downloadable software which is better than the software which comes with the Garmin. Was is Sportrax or similar ?

Display screen is 35 X 23 mms
You have four functions on one screen and four screens, you can flip from one to the other on the move. Figures are 6mm high
If you reduce the information required on the screen to one data field (say pace or elapsed time) the display figures grow to 10mm.
Thanks for the information. Most useful.
