for all those going to IMA - the company that organises it (and many other races), Triangle GmbH, are opening a new tri store in Klagenfurt on 1 March. It's called The Point of Sports, has 900 square metres of floor space and will be an excellent opportunity for some of you to flash the cash.
...and in case you missed it (I did), in 2006 Jan Sibbersen's world record for the IM swim was broken by Christof Wandratsch, the same guy that set up the new Channel record in 2005 of 7hrs 3mins. In Austria he swam 41:26!
Exactly - no time to enjoy the scenery if you swim that fast.
JD - the forecast was lying! It was REALLY windy and it pissed down with rain for half an hour in the middle of my ride. Just as well as I was a bit too hot today!
Hi IW, hope you got my relpy from the other website, yep I am the same person )
Have completed an 1hr 30 on the turbo this morning, using aero bars for the firt time as well. For fun, I thought I would try my first run right afterwards! Legs went a bit funny for the first few yards, but after that the legs were ok and was back into a normal run.
I did send Carl a text just before 10 to make sure he was up and about but havent had a reply ... shall we assume he was already out and hasnt come back yet??!
I've been wallowing in self pity today. Did have a long run planned, but did a bit of cross training last night with a young lady and just kinda can't be arsed! I'm calling this one a rest weekend, well you have to ease yourself back slowly into this training lark hey.
That's rubbish Meldy, poor you being at wuk. Do you think we could do 'virtual' training? That would be ace!!! Sometimes I dream that I'm in a race, and I wake up quite knackered. Do you think it would work? .... <right, I'm off for a snooze and see if I can dream about a 70 mile bike ride>
MON - Nothing TUE - 4 mile easy run WED - Nothing THU - 6 mile hilly Run FRI - Nothing SAT - Nothing SUN - AM - 4 mile easy run SUN - PM - 30min Spinning (on new toy)
6 hours for me today. bit of swim, bike, turbo, run & diy. really painful screwing ... skirting board to the wall. got a blister on the palm of my hand and my arm's sooo tired.
so, pleased with this weeks training. it's just soooo nice to be getting back in the swing of things.
plan for this month is just to:
1. get my knee back to full strength,
2. keep the bike at 3 hours.
3. sort out this power sapping pain in my back when i cycle more than 90 minutes. if i were to do an IM today i reckon it'd add about 90 mins to my bike split having to stop and stretch it all the time.
4. get my running up to 6 miles so that i can blag the bramley 10.
and mike, you spent last night cross training with a young lady and today wallowing in self pity? Either she was a bit of a munter or you need to reassess your priorities!!
Comments
Carl - 6am? I have to get up at 5am on weekdays and am in my office by 6:30!
JD - the forecast was lying! It was REALLY windy and it pissed down with rain for half an hour in the middle of my ride. Just as well as I was a bit too hot today!

Off out for lunch now!

I did a 10 mile run in shorts and tshirt and was still warm
crazy weather
I think Carl is just ignoring the posts and texts, knowing that we'll think he's out training, but he's probably sitting in front of the TV!!
I have sat here all day but then I am at work and cant go anywhere else!
what could I have done for the last 9 hours?
1:45 swim
6:55 bike
4:55 run
Off for a sauna and jacuzzi now though followed by a lovely carvery roast, i think i have earnt it
65 mins turbo today, including 3 x (1min at 95,2mins @100, 3mins @ 105rpm), followed by a 30-min T-run, and some weights/core exercises.
LJS gave me a balance board, doing core exercises on that is surprisingly difficult.
My training since Monday:
Swim 2:10
Bike 4:45
Run 3:42
Bit rubbish really, not being well yesterday didn't help... would have been out on bike instead of a paltry 45 mins on the turbo!
My training for the week was 10.35 I think.
4.18 on the bike and 2.16 on the turbo
3.53 run
8 minutes swimming (the NYD tri)
Gom - yes, I got the message thanks. The pressure is on!
$hit week for me at a pathetic 4.5 hours.

Bike 4h 45 mins (all turbo)
Run 4h 20 min
total 10h 5m
so my biggest week in ages which is good, sadly though, i managed to go over on my ankle today and now walk like a cripple!
