I drink my tea out of a HUGE mug. Holds a pint! I have my 4th pint of the day here right now. Plus have had 3 "normal" sized mugs at work. Will prolly have at least another 2 pints tonight.
All today have been Sainsburys own brand, builder's strength, but I always have an earl grey in the evening once the kids are in bed.
6-7 a day, normally a mixture of English English breakfast in the morning (2-3 cups) then either some Samarkand or Green Tea with jasmine in the afternoon
I have around 2-3 cups of tea a day, at the most. I like tea, but I am considerate to drinking it when running is concerned. Tea and coffee contain caffeine, which is still a diuretic and so I would aim to not have any directly before a run. Generally when I have a tea or coffee (especially coffee) I aim to drink a pint of water/juice after it.
I understand the reseatch gone into this matter which would suggest that the caffeine in tea has little affect on the body, but it is caffeine all the same, and I'm aware of it's effects.
I normally drink about 10, which are a mixture of normal black tea, green tea, chamomile (sp?) and nettle. Thinking of trying fennel next. I used to hate herbal tea, but don't know how I would manage without them now! Plus they stop me snacking ;op
I drink two mugs of earl grey when I wake up, a throwback to breastfeeding twins, two in the afternoon and often one at bedtime, one cup of filter coffee a day max or more often non, apart from two at the weekend, other than that its smoothie, tropicana, water or whisky :-)
My goodness wasn't expecting such a big response! Thank you. Firstly after reading The Hoose-Goer has 20 a day - 12 is peanuts. I do admit to big mugs though each made with its own teabag but not overly strong. Always black tea, had phases of herbal teas but always come back to good old English. The next question is - if I drank less would i get faster or maybe more would be better with the increased caffeine? Perhaps I'll have to have my own little experiment now that I know drinking up to 20 is safe:)
Usually about 8 ish - I drink a lot in the morning, the try and stick to peppermint or other caffeine free in the afternoon, but end up havin a couple of mugs in the evening too. Used to be much more though - tea all day and no caffeine free, but not sure I have noticed any difference!

tea and coffee-unless really strong, counts as overall fluid
it isnt THAT diuretic, as you say
personally, i think people drink too much
not that there is anything bad with that
but theres no medical evidence for this 8 glasses of water thing
