Still undecided about this. Starting to think it might be wiser just to go and plod out my 20m on the roads up here, where I won't be tempted to go faster than my LSR pace (which I will at Alloa)...
Tell me about it, my boss has been constantly checking out the weather on the BBC site as he's running this as well. Never know, it might slow him down a bit!!!
Thanks dnky - yes, same person! No I haven't found anyone who can give me a lift from Edinburgh yet, and starting to get a bit desperate as now less than 24hrs to go!
That said I'm keeping a pretty close eye on the forecast which really looks pretty unpleasant...think I'll just play it by ear today and keep my fingers crossed...!
Jimbo, if you could have got a train to Perth for 8am(ish) I could have given you a lift. But saying that I'm still undecided about going or not.
SoaPM, did you say 'Just don't get lost on the way to the start' meaning it's a tricky road to follow and I might be late, or that I might end up in the jail?!
Debstir -Just that your directions seemed a little hard to follow, that's all. As for whether you might end up in the jail -- is there anything you'd like to confess ?
lol, no! Just that that's where I'd be parking! On the map my route looks pretty straight-forward - come out the car park turn left, take next right, run along to end of that road and turn right again which should take me on to the road to the Academy...
Yeah, have you seen Metcheck.com found it to be pretty accurate! 34mph winds, 0.9cm of snow, max temp 2C, but with the wind factor, it will feel like minus 6. This is at 9am!!!! Deep joy!!!
If that's the case I'll save my petrol money and go running near home - that way I don't have to worry about driving back up the road - club champ race or not!!
Good point Dude - if it was bad for us to run in that weather, standing about watching the race go by would have been worse- so a big thank- you is due to those who did.
It was blinking awful! That 7-11 mile stretch really slowed me down as I couldn't see because of that snow and fighting in that wind!! Still, got a PB, which I'm happy with, but was looking for under 2 hours, which I didn't get
I see the official results are out on their web page. Has anyone else got a difference from watch and official time?.....seem to have added 13 seconds from my watch time!!
Have to say, though, that I think I've seen it all after that race! I must give a big thanks to the dude who decided to whip it out and pee while still running! Urine on my running gear was just what I needed at the 4 mile mark! LOVELY!
...thats disgusting KP...I would have had to have said something to him...eeeeugh!! I've heard of trying for PEE B's but thats a bit too much!! ;-)
Semms there is a few runners who have times differing from the watch times. I wrote a wee e-mail to the organisers cos I am sad that way. Just thanked them once again for a great wee race ...even in adverse conditions!!... and mentioned the time issue which is no big deal.
I have also e-mailed the organisers because I feel they went to a lot of effort to make the competitors and spectators feel welcome. It felt like an event.
I suppose that is why it is in its 25th year.....people keep coming back!
spot on dude (sounded like my son there!!)...and for an event that was just about scrubbed off the calendar a couple of years ago then they have came back from that well and it will always continue to be a favourite for all runners.
Peeing while running ! - that must take some muscular control to be able to relax enough to let it out - it makes the debate on spitting seem a little tame by comaprison.
But I agree - this is disgusting behaviour - children watch the race go by and no-one wants to see that .

Maybe see you all there on Sunday!
It may be the first time I have raced with a hat on :-)

should
70% chance of Rain/Snow
Wind from the Northwest 28mph
Temp 3 degrees (wind chill will feel like -3)
Time to look out the thermals.
Sunny intervals (no mention of rain or snow!!)
Max temp 6 degrees
23mph westerly wind.
Sunny intervals? We'll see...
Oh and hubby has just asked if I'll be ok to drive home after adding 7m on. Erm, not too sure about that one...

Snow, rain, hail, wind and bright sunshine.
A terrific race though. Nice atmosphere and good crowds considering the weather. I'll be back definitely.
1.34 for me
Chuffed.

I had to hold it in from mile 8 onwards. Could have stopped at the side of the road but was going along lovely and didn't want to spoil me time.
One guy I was running alongside said it became like a track race....everyone bunched in, hiding from the wind.
However, after a while we started to slow and I made a break for it.
Thanks to the guy in the green vest who I used as a windbreak for 2.5 miles
