I have applied for this one as it is my "local" too but not had a reply yet. A friend of mine, who is not a runner, told me that last year the runners spent most of the homeward leg leapfrogging over day trippers out for the Bank Holiday Monday.
it is a quick course and if the weather is good, the promenade can get packed. last year's highlight was a runner without a number leading the race and then dropping out just before the end
Lorraine - cannot beleive you remebered mt. I thought this one had a suitable time gap for me to improve on my Ashford time. At Ashford I had only previously run a 10k distance the week before. Since then my long runs average 7-9 miles sometimes with hills as well. Hoping to be much better prepared to get under that hour!
Becky boo there is only one hill in this one, more trouble with people on the narrow path to get to the prom. Last year I had trouble with an old lady in one of those motorised chariots driving from side to side.
Well actually you go downhill from the start, round a couple of roads into chelsfield then through a caravan camp to the coast, then up coastguard cottages hill, this is off road and about 4k mark, then back onto the roads and then run back to the coast again, turn east ,have a drink and then run all the way back on the front,or close to it and finish on the front below where you started. The finish is hard to see,but it is where the crowd of people are standing around on the prom.I think the actual finish in just on the stoney beach.
Well Rob,if you are a local you can have a practice so that you know what to expect even if you do not get the course exactly right but if you have your number you also have the route map
i ran it last sunday and the sewage works is a bit wiffy at the moment. also there's a high savage dog count in the swalecliffe area so watch out. didn't spot any nude bathers though

This clearly isn't going to be quite the fun I was expecting......

I'll accept that as my finishing position ;o)
Good luck for Sunday.
Can't remember my race number off the top of my head but hopefully you won't be seeing the limping Thanet Roadrunner during the race......
Thanks Tracey :-)
