I wouldnt have thought so - if it were this weekend it would be cancelled - but hihgly unlikely that waters will remain for 3 weeks, or will happen again so soon.
Most of the paths are fairly stoney, especially by the river so I would think it will be OK. The paths on the opposite side may be a bit soft, but I would say that will be due to the rain over the next few weeks, which seems to show no sign of letting up. Don't worry though, I'm sure it will be 29 degrees and blazing sunshine on the day....
Dave - don't joke! I did a run over in Newark at the weekend - been raining all week and then was blazing hot on Sunday morning during the run only to rain in the afternoon - brightened up just for us!!
My first ever 10km (in May) I did just under an hour and not managed to beat that since - but it's either been hugely hilly, pouring with rain or very hot, so hoping for reasonable weather and just under an hour again!
If it's cool I think I could manage 42 minutes, if it's very hot, probably around 45 minutes. If it's flooded, I can do a mile of breast stroke in around 40 minutes, so that would be just over 4 hours....
there's my problem I'm even slower at swimming than I am at running!! On Sunday I was on course for a 50min finish if I could have kept my pace up, but it was just too hot. Fingers crossed for rain and I'll bring my arm bands just in case!!

I'm sure you'll get a good time at Pitchcroft, rain or shine, just don't try to keep up with the 30 minute racing snakes at the start! I'll see you on the day all being well for moral support..I'll be in the Ludlow Runners vest....
Thanks! Will watch out for the snakes! And I'll look out for you - I will probably be in my bright yellow leukaemia research vest - cheers me up to run in it - it's so bright!
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows if this race is still going ahead? I know we have had a lot of rain this week and I want to know if I need to take my goggles!
According to the Worcester Racecourse website they've cancelled their racing for this week, but can't find any news anywhere about our run - hope it's stil on, been looking forward to it
I've emailed the organiser of this race over the last couple of days and he has mentioned nothing about the event being cancelled so I would take it that it's well and truly a 'goer'! If anyone is unsure of the route around the race course, this is the information I was sent regarding the run:-
"The course follows the perimeter path of the pitchcroft and at the main gate by the grandstand it follows the pavement around to the car park and rejoins the race course over by the Swan Theatre. Each lap is just under 2 miles to the start is a little way back from the finish to give us the 10K. I would say that a quarter to a third of each lap is on pavement or concrete path and the rest on the path around the perimeter"
Can anyone tell me what time I'd need to arrive to register on the day, please? I've not run in an organised event for decades and don't know what the usual arrangements are.
I'd say at least 30 mins before the start, so 10.30, but there's an email address for the organiser on the main page - he replied to me quite quickly yesterday
I wanted to run at dinnertime but the old man says that there are two giraffes on the bottom of Lowesmoor waiting to get on and they're blocking the road. seriously it might flood as the race course is right next to the river even if it doesn't it will be wet and muddy so don't expect fast times.
4 miles from Worcester. At home, not stuck in drowned car like many. All arks now sold out. As for Sunday, I'd wait to see what the floods are like on the day. It'll be a simple choice between running shoes or prayer and sandals. We certainly won't be able to and watch the cricket instead as New Road is already under water.
It seems as though the Worcester AC website is updated regularly every two years or so (still no sign of last years results!). I suspect Pitchcroft will be well under water tomorrow as the river is still rising.
Have just spoken to race organiser. IT IS DEFINELTY OFF UNFORTUNATELY. The race course in underwater. He said he will have to go there tomorrow in his boat!!(bike)in case anybody does arrive. Re-scheduled for 15th Sept. if able to do it. Otherwise he said you can get re-fund (cheques have not been cashed anyway.) Hope this helps
When I spoke to the race organiser he said they were going to put it on the website, but probably not before tomorrow - another person maintains the website. I guess it is not always easily done. WhenI spoke to him he also said they did not ask for contact no.s on the application forms so cannot actively contact everybody. It is re-scheduled for the 16th (not 15th as on previous post)
