four students did the GNR this year. A little disappointing as there had been such a huge initial interest. Last year's 'star' who clocked 1:42 ran it again. He was in the wrong pen, as seems to have happened to a few people - started with a white number, and ran 1:47 !! No idea how many people he must have overtaken. Apparently (according to his brother) he slept for 10 hours on sunday afternoon.
Eager - don't beat yourself up over not beating your 5k pb by 10 seconds ... you hadn't just run 13.1 miles when you set it but this time you had.
Just got back from the track. It was definitely a R.T.Y.P. session ... 300m with 100m recoveries, x12. My legs were just beginning to feel back to normal again but I'll be interested to see how they feel tomorrow.
Was nice to meet Craig from here tonight in real life too ... hope you enjoyed the club Craig (it's not always all women, honest) and you did really well.
I soooo enjoy my tea on a Thursday night after running club, I have to say.
Now off to see if I can get back on to Marathon pics and look at everyone else's pics ....
oh - before I forget .... Mick, after discussions with my OH he's said that he really wants to come to Carlisle next Sunday and be part of 'TEAM SHIELSY' (well, ok, he'll be the one and only member ) so thank you so much for the offer of a lift but I won't need one now (you won't be as squashed if you decide to still go, XL) Here's me thinking I was doing him a favour by letting him off the hook but he sounded a bit gutted that his services weren't required. I've informed him that I won't be whisked away straight after finishing and want to go for at least a drink (if not some scran) with others somewhere.
Is there a lot of seats in the stadium for spectators? Or is there a better place you'd recommend for him to view it from? Throwing out the question to GCR veterans ...
I was looking forward to the pre and post run banter in Mick's car with Stoxy, Vicki and XL, but if he wants to take me then I should really go with him.
Shielsy - good point about the 13.1 miles, how could i forget, lol. But I just wanted some retribution for my failed end to the gnr. It felt good today to be exirting myself and running fast, but i just don't understand how it turned out slower? I will try again next week.

WTS i was in Orange B and i finished in 1hr 40 mins - not complaints about getting stuck in crowds from around gateshead stadium onwards - could have rean faster if i wished/could/wanted without getting stuck
First run this evening since Sunday, felt great but still dont know if I am recovering from Sunday or tapering for Aviemore on the 14th. Sure as hell aint training!
Finally checked everyone's pics. LOL at Andy, K runner and Stewud all checking their watches. There's a billion of Schmaggle, the photographer loves you!
mmm definitely think I need to be in orange C next year to get sub 2. I got held up quite a bit, easily 2-3 mins I would imagine, which would have got my 2:05 I was after. A clearer run next year could surely get me in under 2 dont you think?

hi, Rachel

so close, Leslie. Very impressive.
I didn't lose the 'm' - no typo, look at your keyboard.
Collect your prize on October 5th, 2008
I know what you mean mandie!
i recognised the upi bit - i often look back at a masterpiece and have that sort of stuff!
Fingers crossed for your foot XL-man! With all this typing (and mis-typing) practice perhaps you should go round on your hands!
The comma key is to the right of the m
Ahhh thanks Lesley and BS
I'll just have to be patient to see my lovely red sweaty face!

Thank you Gurlal - did you take part?

Wow - everyone's GNR photos are much better than mine ... there's some brilliant ones of Patricia, Craig, CC2 and RLTW.
Flabby - did anyone actually shout out 'Come on Flabby' at you, since you had it on your T-shirt?
BS - you look less knackered than your OH .
TheLightsOn - nice hat!
