YES - In around 1994. Was going to do it last year and this year but on hols. Very popular race, so get your entry in in good time. Quite fast course considering around Stroud. Only one slight hill along the A38. Overall a good half to do
I grew up in Stroud (although now live in Derby) and ran this for the first time last year. Am already entered for this year and can't wait.
As AY4 says, this is remarkably flat considering the geography of the Stroud area. I've done two other halfs (Liverpool & Sheffield) and this is the flatest of the three.
May use this as prep for Luton, as need to do a half, will be looking for sub 1:40 if I do it, as Im coming back from injry so doubt i'll be on PB form, (1:30)
I did this last year as my second ever hm and just scraped in under 1.40. Had been aiming for the big 1.30 barrier this time but have been having trouble with a knee - overtraining following a RW training schedule! Either way, it's an event that everyone can enjoy whatever the finishing time.
Beware all: there was a marshall at about the 12m mark last year who kept telling people to put on a sprint for the final few hundred yards. If he's there this year don't make the mistake of believing him like I did !
I ran this last year and believe that a new course was used. Instead of going through Stonehouse we ran around an Industrial Estate (sounds worse than it actually was). Does anyone know what route is planned for this year?Karmus
Not sure about route Karmus, think same as last year... although usually not posted till quite late. Been checking on the Stroud Athletics website and not seen anything yet! Good luck to anyone running, thoroughly enjoyed the last three years hope this one just as good xxx
Will be coming to this hopefully again this year although its a week after Leicester Marathon.
I have a problem Knee following a RW Marathon Plan for sub 1h30 so its either run Leicester & USe Stroud for an easy Sunday run!!! or Miss Leicester cause still not right & Go for PB at Stroud.
I Believe the course will be the same, just keep some extra in tank for the bit from Cainscross R/bout to Finish Line.
Dang HM schedules... This particular knee is still not right and might yet stop me from running in this year's event - shouldn't have been in such a rush... Good luck to all
I haven't received my race number yet, getting a bit anxious, hope it's not among the backlog of post from the postal strikes. Has anyone else not got theirs yet?
1st time in Stroud.Know Stroud well - glad you say it's flat!Hoping for enjoyable run after horrible last 4 miles in Bristol - had lazysummer so own fault!
Not received mine either, Xandie - which is getting slightly anxious-making.
To those who haven't done this one before, it's a very well organised affair, flat and fast. Recommended. Having just done another big city race today (Cardiff) I'm looking forward to a smaller, better run event where you see some countryside.
With regards numbers - I called last week and they were waiting to see what happened with the Lazy B*st*rd stikes before posting.
I would expect to receive them this week, although the person I spoke to also said they'd have something available on the day if numbers couldn't be posted.
My pack came through today so patently the posties are back. I'd say something rude about them as they've knackered up my cash flow, but there might be one or two running at Stroud and I could get some registered mail shoved where the sun doesn't shine on the way round... it definitely wouldn't help me to break my target of the 1.35 mark.
Just got home from work and my pack has also arrived. The posties would have to try and catch us to deliver some "registered mail" and I'd like to see them do that!!!
looking at the map it would appear that an extra drink station has been added at mile 9. If correct, I'm pretty pleased as it's a long way without water from mile 5 to mile 11, where the stations were last year.

A favourite race of mine. Sadly I'm doing a marathon that day. A good day out though.
Like Blisters I too am unfortunately missing it this year to marathon commitments

Take care

The route is the same as last year. Straight through Stonehouse on way out but round the industrial estate at around 10-11 miles.
My number arrived on Saturday so they should be on their way.

Just relax and concentrate on the running
Yes, will do that, thanks Stephen.
TW3, ...and just hope there isn't a picket line instead of the finishing line either!
Got my race number today, so all set now.
