Yes - way better BUT when i increase pace the body is telling me to 'leave it out'! And i get a little pain in torso - so i am 'jogging' (Hate that effin word!! Lol)
Cobweb - like when ya clean out the cobwebs from an old cupboard
Definitely a state of mind rather than the speed of the runs.
Joggers for me get too het up about diet, drinking, log books etc...basically it rules their lives when, frankly, they are not good enough to let running rule their lives. It doesn't rule mine - I am off to watch footie and have a few beers tomorrow night!!
There have been a few classic letters in RW from joggers - moaning about the Pearl 'run like an animal' advert and also moaning about people warming down past people still finishing races - bloody joggers
"Runners - anyone who goes out to with a purpose wether it be a 4 minute mile or just to finish race."
I disagree with that, how many people do races with no intention of running the whole thing RFL to FLM they are not runners, they are not even joggers, fair enough if you get cramp/injured etc and are forced to walk, I also except you can bite off more than you can chew and come up short. But just entering and finishing a race does not make you a runner.
I've done a few triathlons in the past but was never a triathlete and I've done an Ironman but wouldn't call myself an "Ironman", I walked on the run and for me that is not meeting the challenge so doesn't count. And it niggles. Same goes for marathons I'd finished a few but because I walked they never counted and I couldn't stop running until I'd run one! I've run two marathons now one in 3:24:48 and one in 2:55:55. (so I can quite happily stop, except I've still got an Ironman to do)
If you jog regulary and strive to go further and/or faster you are a runner. (but what if you are happy to do the same distance in the same time every time?)
Always amuses me when it's used by fast runners who don't think they will run a good time : " I've got a sore knee so i'm going to jog it round ( then run a 38 min 10k).
The term jogging is also used pejoratively by some people (usually unfit and envious) as a put down as in "saw you out jogging last night" .
Agree with you M'sYL -folk who enter races with no intention of running the distance aren't even joggers there dog-walkers
A jogger is someone who should be arrested by the running fashion police for wearing sweat soaked cotton T-Shirts, cotton sweat pants and Nike trainers.
A runner is someone who wear all Pearl Izumi, Saucony, Brooks or similar RUNNING shoes!
I also try and run sometimes - eg the chilly Gloucester 10m this morning where I just struggled and dipped under 72 minutes (almost a PW). Its just rush, rush, rush all the way though
Give me nice long slow jog along the R.Taff, or better still in the B.Beacons, any day (with lots of walk breaks, and stops to admire the view)

Not jogging (hate that word too!) - running at a slower pace....
I have heard it used in all manner of situations.
Yes i had a slow shorter run - i love my 2 hour slow runs...
Theory - Run at 10min miling you run on fat - go faster, ya run on glucose/sugars...
hope ya better...
Yeh am feeling heaps better thanks!
Looking forward to a very very long run on Saturday, and then change of scenery for Xmas - will be running in Exeter!!

So what do you call someone who does karate?! Don't keep us waiting?! (Or was it a trick question to demonstrate your short attention span...?)
I'm a jogger (and proud of it...)

From a long time lurking I've come to the conclusion that a runner is :
'someone who doesn't like being called a jogger'
Seems to cover all bases.
Personally I aspire to be a jogger ( my other half calls what I do 'padding').
Jog = V Slow running
Running = Fast Jogging
Walking = Not Jogging or running
Hiking = bloody expensive
