I did it...I ran all the way in the Golden Jubilee 10k and came in just under 60 minutes. Feeling really great and incredibly proud and can't wait to start training for a half marathon.
Hope everybody else enjoyed the race as much as I did.
Well done you! Why don't you enter the Windsor half? It's the last Sunday of September and RW has a handy ten week training schedule which will take you to pretty much to the date if you start next week (I've just started it).
I hope that if you're doing Windsor, that you have ordered your URWFRC vest as there will be a load of forumites at this race hoping to meet up and have maybe a drinky or two afterwards.
Hi ya Ratbag - how do I go about ordering my URWFRC vest? as would be very keen to meet up with fellow forumites after the race (probably quite a long while after though so hope they're a patient bunch).
You need to log on to the URWFRC website on http://user.domaindlx.com/rwfrc/index.html You then register and hey presto! You're a member! There's a bit there where you can order your vest.
Oh, and don't worry about us having to wait around. There are a few greyhounds but many of us are somewhat slower than that so you probably won't be the last one of us home.
I've only ran one official 10K, got round in 53 mins that time. 2 years on I was timed over the same course at 47 mins. Not bad for a 16 stone plodder. However, I don't know about you lot but I just don't get a buzz out of going to my limit speed wise, I like to just plod!!.
With you there CH, have always thought of myself as spectacularly uncompetitive, very happy for everybody to run on past and get good times whilst I happily plod away. Having said that I think 47 mins is a great time for a plodder )
I think my time was about 53 mins as well, I'll have to check in my folder in which I sadly keep a recored of all the runs I've done. I keep my race number, race details etc and any photos etc. Pretty sad i know but i like the memories and I can look back on the achievements or not as the case may be.

See you at Windsor.
Suzie - are you tempted?
My first 10k was the Bolsover Saucony 10k in 2001. I finished it which was all that mattered at the time. It was a great feeling though !

I'm going to start a scrapbook along the same lines.....I think I might order an anorak while I'm at it! (only joking - not that sad yet !!!!)
;-))
Excellent work all round.
Its nice to hit on a thread where I can read it all before my PC disconnects.
Happy 2003
You know I'm a slow writer. I'm a slow reader too. Why doesn't RW just delete all messages delivered more than two months previously?
I might be able to keep up with the new crowd if they did.
Thinks. Make that two days, I'm just bragging as usual.
