I'd love to do the silverstone one - it's well close to home and looks like a good event. But unfortunately (snigger) I'll be in the Maldives scuba diving so will have to wait till 2010.
I've done Siverstone twice & I'm unlikely to do it again. There's a 15-20 minute walk to the start line (& of course back from the finish). The weather both times has been atrocious, with driving rain, wind & hailstones on a flat but v exposed route. Did Milton Keynes last year which was the following week & much nicer, equally flat but much prettier surroundings through country villages & with parking right by the start/finish & lots of nice, clean, new portaloos. I'm planning to do it again this year.
JJ2 - Milton Keynes sounds equally good. I'm glad you said about the 15 minute walk at Silverstone. I think that has put me off a bit, That's the whole point about blologs like this There's nothing worse than getting to a race, parking your car where directed to and then having a trek to the start line.
I didn't have a problem with the walk to the start although I can see how it, and the race, would be pretty unpleasant in driving rain. There isn't much protection from the elements on the course.
MK sounds like a nice one. I might have a go at that next year. My PB has stood for a couple of years so it's time I put some work in to break it.
Well, I did this in 2006 and enjoyed it, but the weather was challenging that year as well! Very very windy, with the whole spectrum from sunshine to rain, sleet and snow.
Nigel Mansel was the celeb who started the race, and then joined the field. So Iat least I can claim to have 'beaten Nigel Mansel at Silverstone'.
tbh - race your own race and forget the pacemakers as some of them aren't so good viz. the 9min/mile pacer at Bath 1/2 this year who went past me at 2 miles and I was doing sub 7:30min/mile at the time.....he had nobody in tow.....
I always seem to go off too quick then flop at the end (no jokes please this ain't a Russell Brand phone in!). I always wondered what it would be like to go the whole distance with someone who could keep it up (again, no jokes please we don't want to offend anyone)
Knight Rider, I saw some of your posts about the Leiecster half & sort of guessed. I run with the Cannons running club & know a few people who run with OWLS & other local clubs.

Will be a toss up between this and the Belvior Half at Melton.
A couple of weeks apart.
Read a couple of the reviews and I'm not bothered about scenery - just getting my head down and pegging it.
yeh, it's good - 9,000 strong - or was -
Belvoiur is also a cracker- 600 - 700 strong, nice and rural
Do both, run one - race one !!
Did the Belvior last year and really enjoyed it - good and flat.
Think I will do both and just go for it on both.
Had a look at your website - totally speechless mate.
You are a star. You and phil look like you are having the best time ever.

Sorry, I just had to post that
PB courses sound good to me - especially repeat offenders!

Yes I do - how did you know that?

how strange - Silverstone is my PB as well.......2003 - the 1st year it was held and was sleeting on the morning and freezing cold....

Sounds like a bad omen?
Anyone give me a lift from Greenwich?

Are there any under 7minute pace or below?
