Can anyone advise me as to the best foods to be eating to provide the fuel I need for training? I am a bit bored of Pasta! What about supplement drinks?
There are lots of other carb alternatives such as cous cous, rice and jacket potatoes. And pasta is great hot or cold in a salad with lots of different types of breads-naan, italian, pitta etc. There really is a wide variety of foods you can eat to provide fuel.
Bread is OK then? I thought it was a no no due to it be 'heavy' and difficult for the body to break down? I feel like I've got a bowling ball in my stomach after I've eaten a sarnie...
After my race today I had fruit flapjacks, made with dried bananas, apricots, figs, dates, honey, muscovado sugar and syrup, and a couple of ham sandwiches. That beats beet into a cocked hat.

My favourite sandwich at the moment is beetroot!!
Pammie-I can't say I've tried it with raw tomato. I'm not too keen on tomatoes so I'll stick to plain beetroot:o)
Beetroot good for you or just tasty?
other peeps will tell meif i'm wrong.
Bread is very good.
