Taba looks good JP...Although according to some of the websites I've just been looking at, there may be Middle Eastern guests, and English people should be wary of them!
Beltsios Apartments (may be iffy spelling) in Troulos, on Skiathos. Absolutely gorgeous - we had a quiet apartment away from it all, but the pool bar was lively and fun without having music so loud you could hear it when you shut the door. It's family run, the people are lovely, can't do enough for you and it's a stone's throw from the beach.
There's only one bus that trundles up and down the island's only road, you can catch it into Skiathos town if you want nightlife, or on the other hand the Agustera bar in Koukounaris (more iffy spelling) at the other end of the island plays great rock music but unlike the touristy bits doesn't charge like a wounded rhino.
And as for running out there....... It needs to be first thing in the morning before it gets hot, obviously, and it's hilly as feck, but the scenery's out of this world. The island's only road goes east to west, but you can run north on decent tracks and feel like you're the first person to discover the place. Well, until you find the taverna in the middle of nowhere!
They both look really good, and the prices for Skiathos were good too.
Gaz we had a holiday in Carvoeiro a couple of years ago, I did like it but I just like to float around in the sea all day and the waters weren't that good for snorkelling.
I love Greece. Did some snorkelling in Kefalonia a few years ago. I've also been to Troulos in Skiathos (like Hashette) many years ago and it was beautiful. Skiathos is quite an expensive island though as Greek islands go.
I normally just get a flight, arrive and move around or stay put if I find somewhere amazing.
Croatia is a good place for snorkeling, the sea seemed really clear when we went last summer, the coastline and islands are stunning. Only 2 and half 5 hours away also.

Lindos Blu can not recommend this place enough.
It is literally the width of the rd that separates the hotel from the very quiet Vlicha bay & it's beach.
Hotel is fantastic,it's only opened last year ,had 2 lovely weeks there & I am returning again this year.
2 minute taxi ride to Linods or a 15 minute walk.
Limited scuba diving in Rhodes, which I think is limited to Anthony Quinn bay.
Decent 5 mile plodding circuit which takes you seriously off road for some of it around the bay.
What, this old dump?
Looks good, I like Lindos and Rhodes town...
FB can you recommend an agent for the Maldives? wouldn't want to f*ck it up.
