We do have the radiators on now Missy but when I started this fred, I didn't. I used bicarbonate of soda in the last wash at Shimmy's suggestion (well I think she suggested baking powder, but it's a similar thing). Seems to be OK and it took the mildew smell out of my jeans which had taken 3 days to dry and had to go straight back in for washing.

Washing machine only has a slow or fast spin setting Gaz - no idea what speed they are. *Goes to hunt out manual*
NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!! As other posters have said, using conditioner will ruin the wicking properties of your gear.
I always use soap flakes to wash my running kit in and I never have any smelly problems, and I sweat like nobody's business when I'm running.
Soda crystals at a 50 deg wash, (didn't know about fabric conditioner spoiling wicky kit )
Then on radiators - surely this time of year you have it on some of the time? Or are you just 'ard!!
D
So the bicarb worked then? Great. I will have to give it a go. I googled it. I think it said baking soda which may be american for bicarb.
I am doing a shop this week so I will add it to the list.
I think baking soda is baking powder Shims. Mainly contains bicarb I think. (I don't do enough baking to know.)
Morning, BTW.
Mornin'
but it got rid of the smell?
How much did you use?
I didn't know about the no fabric softener thing
Does it ruin the wicking for good? I thought I would have noticed this as I am pretty sweaty. I usually use the 2 in 1 detergent for everything.
I sense an excuse for getting new kit!
Thanks Shimmy
Damn! I'll just have to keep going with my funny discoloured old kit!
I always use softener, but I never remember to separate out different colours so it all ends up a murky brown!
I found the magazine with the heated airer - www.easylifegroup.com but by the time you pay postage its cheaper to get it from Lakeland I think.....
