IMIB Did a olly the other week and first open water ever done. From a novices point of view was a world of differance If you can get any practice in before even if its just to get used to a wet suit it will help.
Which one have you signed up for? This is starting to look like fun.
Cake, I've signed up for the sprint. Am ramping up the run training so won't have that much biking and swimming time but really fancy doing another tri.
Bit of cross training before a marafun always works if you want to try more swimming on rest days before berlin. Got very little experance with cross training bike wise so don't know if any good.
Think I'm going for the Olympic distance. Been getting in some open water practice with my club and have done a sprint race which was open water but have yet to do 1500m!!
Am I right in thinking you can actually stand up in the lake if you get knackered?!
Still got a couple more weekends of practice though so will hopefully be ok!
Did Olympic distance bike and run at Horwich back in may but the swim was only 800m and was in the pool!
Mick you can happily float in your wetsuit if you need to take a beather. No idea how deep the lake is through.
The lake is shallow and you will get disqualified IF you walk!!, there are a lot of freshwater mussels? in the lake and they are razor sharp and will shred your feet. They are one of the reasons why the water is so dark.
How many distances will be swimming at the same time? Do you have the sprints doing their 500m at the same time as the HIM peeps doing their laps? Could potentially get a biy raucous with people getting under each other's feet?
I have got some of the temporay pirate tatoos coming and should be here for this, will need to keep hold of some for the Outlaw but will bring sme down for this
always book premier inn ealry as they tend to fill up and theres no deposit, you only pay when you get there
It's rare for me to use a hotel unless w**k when out and about I much prefer to go feral and ever camp or see what I can work out. Not just a money thing just get fed up with all the inn's. That's good to know cheers.
Steve swimming is the only thing I'm still quite worried about so very much doubt it. Your quick on the bike anyway so don't worry about it. Starting to look a bit like a outlaw dress rehearsal?

Well, I'm in at long last - middle distance - but can't say I'm over enthused about it
Anyone any idea how they count the laps on the swim, looks as though it could all get a bit confusing to me
The middle distance people get to go first, then 1 hour later everyone else gets to go
I know they give you wrist bands for the run, but know about swim laps or bike laps
Event details from2009
I found it quite useful reading the instructions from the 2009 race, link above
