I was hoping to do this one, this time around, but haven't made the progress that I wanted. I think I could have blagged the Oly swimming distance, with some extra work, but I'm miles away from the bike and run distances at the moment. Hope you all have a great time. I may pop down to watch.
Been a very busy few days mate so not had the time to look (trust me you don't want to know). Hopefully on leave from Wednesday or Thursday so going to pop by nice friendly trishop to see if they have one. Would rather buy from him because he's helped me out a lot this year. He did try to give me one with the tri bars but at the time I wasn't thinking straight.
I same the world over. Parkbench if you pop by and shout people on we can say hello and get you signed up for Germany IM next year while your not looking?
"IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR GATORADE BIG HALF & TRENTHAM TRIATHLON
We have now been informed by Staffordshire Police that the two coned filter lanes for the traffic lights on the course cannot be used. Although it was originally agreed and risk assessed, there has been an objection raised to the use of the cones and we can only follow the instruction of the Police and the Highways department.
We are therefore operating a simple stop when there is a red light and we will record the exact time you are held up and deduct it from your overall time on the day.
Although you may feel that stopping for a short period may be a disadvantage in breaking your rhythm, there are benefits to it also in that you get a quick breather, chance to take on fluids and food in an upright position, re organise bottles or yourself in a safe manner and stretch out any tight muscles you might have. With that in mind whether you get stopped at any red lights or not, you can use it to your advantage to make up for the break in rhythm.
Look forward to seeing you on race day!"
SA I think that means you can smoke at the lights and get the time taken off?
Perhaps I should turn up with a set of temporary traffic lights, an official looking clipboard and a stopwatch... I could then set them to red for everyone but pirates and pretend to be noting down wasted time.
Just read the cut offs - think I might be struggling to make the bike but i guess I'll be so dizzy after lap after lap after lap it won't make thst much difference
decided against it, have enough on and don't need a bad race at the moment so concentrating on Cardiff Half and Nantwich on the way. Calfie is doing the Oly,.
I was on the way to see the in-laws for Sunday lunch, driving up the Eccleshall Rd (A519), and saw a couple of pirates, mid-cycle. Gave a wave and a shout - hope it all went well guys
It was fun will give a proper reporty later when I can fell my legs. Only bad thing was some fool shouted your going the wrong way when I got out of the water, causing confusion and need for chocolate.
Yep, that was me Frodo; startled at the horn blowing thinking it was going to be some miserable fecker moaning about all the bikes but when I saw a happy smiley face and someone waving it gave me a real boost - good one!
Good report SA and good to meet you at last. I'm feeling tired today and struggled on the last lap of the run so not the great confidence boost I was hoping for but I thought the bike and run courses were good let down by a really poor swim - having run around the lake now I think it would have been better to have extended the swim course and had less laps which would have stopped some of the bunching.
At the second turn I saw two guys(?) have a head on collision as they were both slighlty off line
One of then I think was Steve. He chatted to me for a bit on the first bike loop. Will do a proper report race report, once I’m off the phone to the nutter I’m speaking to at the moment. Very well done all round by the way for Sunday and nice to put names to faces. Anyone know who the other lady pirate was? LB said she saw two on the bike. One will be Mrs SA but who was the other?
Yay yes he's 13th overall and 6th in his AG, but for some peculiar reason his swim & bike time isn't showing. Which is a shame cos the swim went quite well for once.

cake have you manage to fit a bike computer to your bike yet?

Must remember to pack them in the bento box
They are also looking for marshals. You receive a goody bag, £10 for travel, T-shirt and pair of sunglasses.
Look on website for details and contact, believe they are desperate for help.

I think Liverbird is marshalling.
I would help out but I'm trying to take photos so people will benefit in other ways.
You not doing it now Nam?

Think Richard123 would have been he other one as he was just behind me.

Certainly. Pics should be up later tonight and I'll mail a link here. You can mail me if you want any jpgs.
Wow! Great news. I don't think he knows that yet. Will drop him a text.Didn't see another Pirate lady but there was a woman in a white two piece tri suit who said 'go Pirates' eveytime we passed on the run??
Ahhh, I think Steve mentioned it when we ran together for a while - still funny regardless of who it was
