Got this race pencilled in on my calendar but not done it before. Any info appreciated.
How does it compare with other ones? And I`ve only driven through Newark before so is there anywhere good to grab a spot of lunch and a pint afterwards?! Thanks!

The Egyption toe
Im in again. This event always warmer and more crowds.Hopefully loads of WATER?
did it last year and really enjoyed and will do again. pancake flat until 10 miles then a couple of up and downs.
I got a pb there last year but have beaten it since but think i can get a new PB if i work on my speed a bit more. Very hot last year so hydrate the week before
finishes in the centre and there are quite a few pubs. Newark has a nice centre to it so plenty of choice. I just parked in the big Morrisons then walked the rest in only aout 5-600m. there might be better parking as not from newark.
good tshirt as well not to larey
Hopefully keep my training moving on steadily and look for a decent time in this one then. However, if it is hot, I wilt!
im back for a 2nd go got to beat last years time stopped to help a fallen runner last year for 20 mins til ambulance turned up so time went out the window hopefully it will be uneventful and we can get round non stop
great race, great tshirt bring on the cooler weather tho lol
finished mansfield half today in sweltering heat dont need that again
I think I shall do the same with Newark and see what sort of temperature it is. I may even leave it and enter on the day if conditions are favourable. Otherwise I`d do an early run at home.
was hot last year but seemed to cope a hell of a lot better than i did yesterday
Morrisons is probably the best place to park.....downstairs, if you want a cool car to come back to !!
As has been said, there are loads of pubs/cafes/coffee bars in the centre plus there's The Barge on the river, opposite the castle.
hoping to beat my Sheffield time for a PB.
when you say about working on your speed what do you recommend ? as i normally do two 5 mile runs midweek and a 12 miler on a saturday, which i suppose just helps my stamina ? although my times are improving slightly.
cheers
I'm in.

Could try contacting the race organisers through the website?

Theres nothing to say the race is full and it wouldn’t be the first time a race organisers inadvertently done something with online entry...
I did the Humber Bridge 1/2 and that was hot...and the hill at 9 mile just did me..!
Hopefully after a decent time, weather permitting, at Newark.. Not long now.. Squeezed a 20m across the Lincolnshire Wolds on Sunday..!
I've got a place in the Great North Run but would like to race in a few halves before then.
Go for it, I have never run this one before but have done the Nottingham and Cardiff a couple of times.
I work in Newark and have had a look at the route, it looks pretty stready (flat) for almost all of the route.
Get it done.
I'm in ! I emailed the organiser yesterday after getting the same online entry issue and she raised the limit for us which is why it's working now. Had a really bad MK run last weekend after going off too fast so determined to put it right at Newark. Doubt I'll beat my 1:34 PB but anything under 1:40 would be nice.
