Just seen the email re Chester Mara in October 2011. A super course taking in the City centre and finishing along the river bank to the racecourse, fantastic!!!
Aaah yeah - Alan was hoping to get the Merseyside Marathon up and running round about then. I wonder if the date move was on purpose ? Still - an October Marathon should be good running weather. May seems too hot for me.
Liverpool still dicking about while in less than 8 weekssince the first race the Chester guys have their City Centre route in place. Where there's a will there's a way.

Is that why you tend to go for a bit of a swim and a pootle on the bike before a marathon in the sun each summer
Well, all that said, I'm looking forward to a great race, it really was superb this year and they've obviously got a few quid in the pot to invest in next year's.
I would be looking for October 2nd next year as it will be a confirmed date (for the 10K) so I know it will be available. Hopefully it won't clash with Chester and I shall do my best to ensure it doesn't.
No further news I'm afraid. The decision making indiovidual is away on 'annual leave'
Kicked It - just attended PLS 10K give out Goody Bags we donated.
Generally speaking it's great to see the profile of marathon running being raised beyond London. Hopefully we can add to that next year. Well done to everyone committing to Chester, I'm sure it will be a big success judging by the many positive comments on RW.
JP - your determination is inspirational. Two in two weeks!!
The good news is that the route passes through Wales, as I am aiming to complete a 'six nations' of marathons.
Already done England (Nottingham), Scotland (Loch Ness), Ireland (Dublin) and Italy (Rome), so once I've done Chester I need only concentrate on Paris!
On Sunday 10th October we are hosting a launch training run around part of the course starting and finishing at the Chester Racecourse - All are welcome - There will be a choice of runs to suit everybody from a run-walk 3m to a 6 mile run route for those who already have a good training base. Meet us at 9am at the Chester Racecourse and stay to join us for a coffee and chat afterwards.
Any questions leave a post & I will come back to you.
More information on the 2011 marathon is on the web site
A great turn out for the traning run this morning, Perfect weather, scenic routes & good company - its much more fun when running with a group.
Thanks everyone - looking froward to the next group traning run on Sunday 5th December. As today there will be 3, 6 & 9 mile options. Keep an eye on on the training page of the race web site for more details.
p.s. There are three forum threads running, suppose it makes sense to converge on one - why not all post on the MBNA Chester Marathon thread which is linked to the race listings.
Great - I will send you a message asking for all your details so we can change my entry for the marathon with your details and you'll get a good time in your name.

Yep 9th October 2011.
Well it's a tale of two councils isn't it?

Just pre-entered. Thanks for the heads up.
I'd be interested in the Liverpool event too but its the early bird and all that!
Knowing the arrogance of LCC they'll probably go for the SAME date, give it to Alan then blame him when the numbers are low and say "I told you so"

'runliverpool' initiative
Well I hope it comes off Alan and good luck to you in trying, (you must wonder why you bother sometimes).
How did you get on in the PLS 10k?

Just pre-registered - brilliant.

Not run a marathon for 7 years. The Chester Marathon 2011 comes only weeks after my 40th birthday so it's a great long-term target to aim for .
416 days seems a long way off but i'm going to need most of that to shift the weight and get active again. This race could really change my life.
