The website says some locations will be muddier/hillier/wetter than others, this one is definitely the muddier one.
Take the muddiest bit of the bracknell one and there's your starter for ten. On the other side its not as hilly but that's not to say that there's isn't any.
Yes Mr Z - got a ripper of a puncture/ bent brake lever/ wheel rim - but that was on the way home! (off road, happily - no damage to self)
I'm doing Grim not hellrunner, and then the Tadworth 10 at Epsom, and I'm also looking at RunRampage 10K in Camberley 16th January as it's fairly local
Trail Shoes - Mr Z, I have new Asics Trail Attacks (60 miles only on the clock) - the uppers are still clean but they won't be by Sunday lunchtime. I suppose that's what I bought them for.
pleased you're uninjured - sounds like an eventful ride! - i had a rear tyre on my road bike burst on a pothole recently at 30+MPH which certainly raised the HR!
i recently got a pair of adidas kanadia 3's - i've struggled to find a pair of trails shoes i found comfortable but these seam to be doing the trick - not usually a fan of adidias shoes - they were a right state after the XC this weekend. Couldn't help feeling it was a pointless task when i cleaned them on sunday given whats in store over the next 2 weekends!
DM - My number arrived on Saturday - chip is to be collected on the day. If I were you I would be giving them a ring today, because that is getting late. I am also a W
I'm doing this, then hellrunner next Saturday, followed by Grim. Not the fastest, but stamina all the way. Plus it's such a laugh!! The doing the Swanley Christmas Caper, fancy dress very much encouraged - so I think my running nun outfit will get an outing!!
I'll be at this with a friend and hoping to have some fun! Nice and late question here... will I be fine with normal technical t-shirt/ shorts and Nike LunarGlides?
I did Tough Guy summer with the LunarGlides and they held up very well with no problems but wanted to check this event doesn't definitely need trail shoes?
Any help will be appreciated!
Rich
P.S. I swear I didn't want the user name 'Rich Burn 3' but I seem to have got it... : )
Short and tech t is perfect; you wouldn't want tights ect. as they tend to get very heavy when wet.
As for trail shoes; it's certainly advisable to have trail shoes - the soil around there has a fair amount of clay in it so it can be slippy under foot. however i wouldnt run in new shoes on the day so you should be fine in your nike's - just be carefull on corners!
Ps - you can change your user name in the "my profile" section at the top of page. Although i quite like Rich Burn 3 - sounds like a computer game!
Yep, a great race even without the wind and hailstorm. Yep, feet still filthy after a shower and a bath. Then I got sent out to repair the garden gate.
That was after strolling round the delightful Victorian Street Fair which shuts down the village for the day and only encourages the local AmDrammers to wander around in fancy dress!
Hope everyone who ran this one had a good race and that it was muddy enough for you all.
Poop. I had to pull out of this last night due to illness. Gutted as I had been looking forward to it since entering back in May!! Fingers crossed I'll be fit for the next couple of weekends.

Not certain how they're going to top that this year but I'm in again to find out.
How does one get to this event if you don't drive? Are there buses laid on or is taxi the only option?

Goodness knows how the X will live up to last year but I am looking forward to finding out
Got mine as well - they probably started them at 4000!
A spot of mountain biking at the LookOut tomorrow morning. With a hangover I expect, as I am just about to wander up the pub

Still not got my number...I'm a 'W' so assuming I'm amongst the last to be posted, but getting a bit worried.
Did this last year and had an absolute scream...back this year with some friends...can't wait....assuming my number arrives!!!
You've got a busy few weeks there Sue - I'm planning a boozy birthday weekend between Bordon & Grim.
I'm going to the Running Show on Saturday 27th (as advertised in RW) - no doubt to spend money I don't have on stuff I don't need!
I'll be at this with a friend and hoping to have some fun! Nice and late question here... will I be fine with normal technical t-shirt/ shorts and Nike LunarGlides?

Excellent - thank you for your help. Put my mind more at ease and you're right about new shoes, just a recipe for ripping up my feet!
Thanks for the advice on the username too. I guarantee Rich Burn 4, due for release in July 2011, will be even better than Rich Burn 3!!
Good luck & have a great run.. ....remember it`s only mud and it does come off....all be it sometime next week but it does come off.
Have fun & don`t forget to smile.
