I think I'll have a fiver on each of Scotland, Wales and Ireland, SO. Must be worth a flutter, in the event that everyone else might go down with flu or something.
wales will rise again!! - look you - the leader of the conservative party is welsh - peter hain is welsh - look out - we're on the way! Neil Jenkins for PM I say
So Wales, who aren't playing Popham ?sp) and haven't selected a fullback, are going to beat England?
My dream: Cockbain breaks from the back of the scrum (he might as well be playing out of position as well!) and attempts to run through Wilkinson. St Jonny upends the great Aussie sheepsh***er (thats shearer), drives him back 10 yards, before making the ball available to Robinson. Robinson leaves Harris sitting, bemused, on his arse before going the length of the field to score. There is no ullback at home because, bizarrely, Wales forgot to select one. England 46 Wales 6
Robinson is great over 20m and jinking, but over distance does not have the speed.
Also think that the ball carriers in the welsh back row will target JW dodgy shoulder early on (I accept that he has a great tackle but there is also a weakness there).
Anyway Hansen does not select fullbacks - he has studpily siad that there is a left, centrre and right wing to refer to the back 3 unit.
I think Thomas is there (and I really hope he is ok positionally) for his ability to stand up in the tackle and buy the support players time
Sorry my Celtic chums; Robinson may not be lightning-fast in World terms, but in broken play with no full back at home, noone will catch him.
England will be able to stop the Welsh forays up the middle (good English pack, see?) and whip the ball wide quickly when required (good backs too, see?). England about 95% likely to win...
DB, so if St Jonny of Wilkinson was Welsh, you'd still pick the ginger jinker then, DB? ;-) nuff said!
The ginger prince is actually a much better kicker. His success rate might be lower, but he played in a poor team so kicked a lot. How often to you see England kick for the corner and then rolling maul whereas wingnuts would have had to go for goal.
Lesson to be learnt from shoulder injuries there as well. In his ealy career some were suggesting that Jenks should convert to flanker as he tackled abrasively. Several shoulder injuries later he just really tries to pull people down
Ickle jonny is a one trick pony. He can kick, granted, but that's all. Just because he is a good points kicker doesn't make him an outside half and no, I wouldn't pick him whilst Stephen Jones is fit.
It's a shame Wales can't pick the likes of Shane Howarth anymore. He's a fullback, and quite good. Just 'cos he has no more ancestral links with Wales than an alien from Jupiter shouldn't matter should it ?
funny, but I can remember when Wales could field a good rugby sides and win. The amount of stick handed out because got beat again, but honestly guys, these days they are not of the same standard.
It might be a close game, but given England's current ability to win even when placed under a lot of pressure (NZ, Aus, SA all in the last 15 months), I don't rate Wales' chances. But if they win through, I'll be cheering for in the next round.
Neither of whom have a brother playing for another country in the same tournament, of course....
And how prescient of Mr and Mrs Obolensky to call their kid Crown Prince :-)
Are you coming to Sodbury for the slog on Sunday DB, or can you bear to watch the rugby? There's already going to be one unhappy person there- either fb or i are going to be sobbing after the race when we find out the result!
I've asked jj to pop in and tease you further as I'm off for a run in the forest :-)

hmmmm, not many people backing the Celts to win the final.
I had £5 each way on Norton's Coin at the Gold Cup a few years ago. Came in at 100-1.

Swing low, sweet chariot....
England haven't had an outside half in my lifetime.

JW is one of the top fly halfs in the game yet the Welsh would not want him while other countries would bite your arm off if you offered him.
runs like a genius....
tackles like a genius....
and kicks like a genius...
and has a big match temperament....
and a Grand Slam.....
Apart from that, JW has got nothing. What a trick, what a pony.
(rather have a pony than a donkey any day :-) )
We've got a spare fullback if you're interested, too...
He is English, but then so was Tony Copsey...

How long have you got?
Should we start with Crown Prince Obolenski?

Bit like the game will be on Sunday.
Hey can I change the subject a little, what does everyone thing on the Ireland game?
...don't want to cause any trouble...
If I didn't wear the white (which isn't really my colour, actually) I would be a'wearin' o' the green!
(coz the red stuff in my veins is actually pure Liffy-water)
Nuff said, am off running now.
(hope it came over that I'm typing with a smile on my face BTW. jj said in Porkers that I was getting feisty!)
Ireland- only 'upset' of the Quarters, I reckon...
