I think there is room to have solo events as well-
It is a different challenge- but not for everyone. I would do an acerace in 2004 but have a S***e mountain mike and no real chance of getting a better one over the next 12 months.
AS Racing seems to be born out of things like Raid Gauloise and the Eco-Challenge which promote the team ethos, which has lead to the sport as is known today.
Why it has never taken off as a solo thing I dont know - personally I am right up for the challenge of pitting yourself against the elements/ environment etc etc over long periods of time. I suppose this is why I like ultraevents (although I'm a newbie to them)
no events planned over winter, having a very easy month at presant whilst sketching out next year. Then will be building for spring marathon (as is the fashion these days).
would be good also to work on my navigation with an old hand

solo class on the two day events- need mountain bike
I've done a couple of the one dayers and they are fun
24 hour events all require teams of 4 generally
Thought the whole point of it was working as a team )

IM: adventure racing.... where's the implication of team in that ?
- that looks like an excellent event - you need to be very proficient at sea kayak though I believe

likewise.
should we look at partnering for a MM (AR needs 4 usually i think)? or do you think differing locations makes that kind of thing too impractical?
also... i may hate you.
oh and you might be billy-the-whizz quick.
whereabouts are you based again?
first steps would probably to meet for a training session/ weekend type of thing.
what events have you got coming up?
