Tower 42 - Vertical Rush, London 3 Mar 2011

Hi All

A bunch of us from work are planning to do this event.  It involves all of us running up all 42 floors/flights of stairs in the Tower 42, London.

Some of the gang are hardened runners, some of us plodders.  Hopefully we'll have some fun though.

I've started ignoring the lift in work now and walking up to my office floor (all 3 floors!!)

Anyone else doing it?

Andyp

Sounds like the one someone else started a thread about - only that one's in the Gherkin, for the NSPCC.

Looks like stair running is the new Race for Life! image

    Hi Wilkie

We looked at the Gherkin event but it's on a Sunday.  I didn't really fancy going near my work on a Sunday as I'm there the rest of the week.  We chose the Tower 42 event as it's on a workday and we are nearby already.

It could be, v. true image

Stair running is quite a big thing in the US, I believe.

I read something about it that recommended that you make full use of the handrail to assist your climb.

Despite running regularly, I still get puffed walking up four flights, so I'll be giving it a miss.  That and the £30 entry fee.

At least this one only "suggests" a minimum fundraising of £150.  The NSPCC one has a "minimum" sponsorship requirement of £250 per person.  Not sure how they enforce that, though.

Its a good thing Wilkie - like BMF/R4L it keeps some of the weirdos/egos out of proper running events...

Now we just need to find something for them to do on VLM day image

I'd like to think I'm neither Curly. I do various events but fancied something different..

I was going to say that, but maybe put it more nicely. image  It's good to see charities organising their own events rather than buying up places in "proper" races.

Agree with Wilkie about the sponsorshiop "suggestion" rather than the mandatory levels needed for teh Gherkin run.

Agree Wobbled that the amount of "public" spaces in events are getting smaller.  Thankfully that's not an issue in the Park Run, or most of the local races I do.

3 days to go and the 42 floors appears a bit daunting!!
