I personally don't see the point in blogging. Most running blogs really don't have anything interesting to say and rarely offer any real insights into the running process. It all just seems a little self indulgent to me. Ultimately the blogger will run out of things to say (or different ways of saying the same thing) or tire of posting. Eventually the abandoned blog will end up floating around in cyperspace like some digital Marie Celeste.
Started blogging in 2006 to chart my journey towards an Ironman Triathlon, mainly just for family and friends. Soon enough I started getting messages from people I didn't know all around the world which was bizarre. As Dave said I signed up by a publisher and my book came out in January and has sold over 1100 copies in the first month, in the top 3 running / triathlon books on amazon.
I just blog still because I enjoy it, it also still motivates me that I train in order to have something to write about. It's personal, it's written that way, if other people like reading it then that's great, if they don't then hopefully they'll find what they are looking for in another blog.

A lovely phrase... I do like that
It does almost sadden me when you click on a blog and it's very same-y, no comments, and very little content... feels like someone talking to themselves.
The missus has started and left 2 blogs for dead at various points. It's got to be about being an innovator... there's evidently a lot of people blogging and not a lot reading.
Hello! I do a blog- http://runningcupcake.co.uk At the moment I am training for the Stockholm marathon- anyone else doing it? I am getting pretty nervous as the day is getting closer now!
Ooh, might as well jump on the bandwagon! I started a blog about a month or so ago - I'm living in Saigon in Vietnam at the moment, and running is a bit crap, so I started it to make me look forward to going out and doing the same boring, sweaty loop again and again. Seems to be going well so far, as I've signed up for a half in June in Kuala Lumpur.
I've enjoyed reading some of the blogs posted, have followed a few. I've no-one to run with here, so it's a nice substitute
I'm about three months into running and I’m posting my progress on my blog (http://blog.peterfisher.me.uk/category/running/). Still running sub 3 miles at the moment but working more on pace and breathing.
I'm also a web developer and my blog holds some of my work and opinions on web development
Why does it have to be a blog. Just write about yourself in your own journal.
A good blog has to be interesting, original and have literary merit, a journal written for an audience of one requires none of these. That way you'll have one sure fire devotee.
Just thought I'd share mine - it's largley focused on training for my first marathon later this year. I try to keep "I've run x amount of miles today" or "run x amount of times this week" off there and focus more on race reports in the build up to my 'A' race.
Plus there's lots of embarassing race pics - everyone likes a good laugh at those
Some Great tips here. I've just started my blog in a bid to motivate others running their first marathon, like me! Fingers crossed someone somewhere will benefit poundingpavements.com
I've just started my blog on my experiences with barefoot running. Hoping to upload evidence, advice and reviews of kit on a weekly basis as well as a few of my training plans. I would really appreciate anyone giving it a look and any feedback, positive or negative. It's certainly far from complete at the moment but I think I've made a decent start:

Thanks for the plug Dave.

Good luck everyone with your blogging
My blog's also a personal thing, I keep notes on my training log as to each session but blogging allows me to record in more detail what I thought.
Thanks very much, really appreciate your comments
From feedback most cats seem to share Crosby's traits.
That's the beauty of blogs - you can make it whatever you want regardless of if anyone reads it or not.
I did Janothon this year and caught the bug of blogging my training sessions..

Great reading some of the blogs on here.
Mine is http://herbifit.wordpress.com/ where I blog about my twin passions of running and veganism
I had so much resistance (and Tourette's) to running that I had to start a new blog just to have somewhere to pour it all! It's an anti-motivational blog and working so far Hope to see you there. http://totallyunfit.blogspot.com/ and http://www.facebook.com/groups/totallyunfit/
I have one too - http://envierose.wordpress.com/
I have decided to try to get into triathlon. I am so utterly hopeless, that I've decided to keep a blog, in order to laugh at myself.
If anyone wants to hear of tales of drowning, then this is the blog for you. It's pretty basic at the mo, but I'll pimp it as I go!
