In my travels I have had some intriguing hallucinations......
Alaska - Iditasport - I saw little elephants, a monkey in a tree and a turkey alongside the trail
Jordan - Desert Cup - I saw a duck reaching for food, a piglet stood on top of a pig, a gnome on a surf board, a baby rhinoceros who put its head down to charge me and the person I was running with had a bill board on his back and was carrying a chair.
Yukon - YAU - Saw an American Nuclear Bunker alongside the trail - but realised I was hallucinating so went to sleep instead.
Anyone else had experiences like these??

Think that was tiredness and stress. And fear. Coupled with an over-active imagination.
I sometimes wake up at night and think I can hear the drone of a large aircraft.
actualyl i do hullucinate when i have a fever. have done since a kid. best was a large spider with big legs (bit like bagpipes full of air) breathing heavily as it descended. but none of these were full on

In answer to your question -
I hallucinated at approx mile 85 in Alaska coming into Skwentna Lodge - having had only 2 hour stop at mile 55.
In Jordan they were all in the very latter stages of the race at about 160km going through Wadi Rum
...and in Yukon it was a bit earlier in the race at approx mile 65 - but the race had started only 24 hours after arriving in Yukon - so was knackered before start.
My hallucinations were, I believe, due to being knackered and not dehydration.
I recommned hallucinations to anyone - cracking weird - never tried drugs - but I would imagine the same feeling without the risk to health or sanity.
