It'll be good to meet up with you guys next week. that of course depends on whether i can move after crossing the finish. I have this image of being dragged off by the feet and dumped in a dark corner somewhere.
my PB is 11:54 (Florida - flat), PW is 13:28 (Austria - bad cramps) but this is a much tougher course than any I've done so far so if I can dip under 14 I know I've done well. between 14 and 15, I'll take grudgingly, anything over 15 will be a bad day out and something's gone wrong along the way.
hey ho - what will be will be
going to get a nice 3hr bike tomorrow - no daft hills, no daft pace, just a nice spin over and then hope to get a good sea swim in. run - will do something gentle
I will be very grateful and extremely happy with a finish. ) 3 hour bike, bit of running and a sea swim for me this wk end and then that's it! FeFe thanks for the special bag info. I couldnt find anything in the emails.
FB - 11:54 is flying. I think in perspective Wales is my first IM on a tough course so i don't really have a clue what to expect until i cross the line....except pain of course.
Bloody hell Colbol sounds like you'll be finished in no time ... we'll have to rely on you to make sure theres a beer waiting at the finish line for those of us not so likely to make it in by last orders .
Not a chance of me finishing in quick time i'm afraid. I'll be happy with 14hrs and depending on the course on the day i might change my goal. 981 for me, crap, this real isn't it!!

Number 1028 for me - pity that won't be my finishing time.
First time Ironman so predicting a finish time is a very risky business. 3 ironman distance swims in training ranging from 1hr 16 to 1hr 45 (LCW that one!), LCW bike time of a little over 6hrs 30mins and I have never run more than 14 miles in my life, but took 2hrs 5mins for the run at Mallorca 70.3.
That would suggest something about the 13hr mark I guess, but I expect I will fall apart completely in the second half of the run which could easily add 2hrs to that if I end up walking most of that.
Anything under 17hrs and I will be happy, especially if my 4yr daughter manages to be awake to see me at the finish. DFL will do, a DNF will not!

Sounds like a sensible target....although I suspect you'll be a little faster!
I'm hoping for around the same time, as long as the Knee Gods look kindly on me

Possibly a typo if copied from IMUK?
Only guessing but it says to keep buoys on your left but also says it is a clockwise course - makes for a fast swim!
The comment "the lane to transition is on grass" makes me think it is IMUK wording.
5774ft of climbing on the bike doesn't sound too bad at all compared to what i was expecting!
