I have just got my magazine through the post saying i have a place for 2012,this was my second attempt at getting a ballot entry, sorry for anyone who did not get a place and i hope you all still try and do a spring marathon,i did my first last year at halstead after not getting in to london and it was a great marathon and is listed on here as one of the top ten in england. maxine
After reading everyone's postings on here this morning, I changed my lunchtime run today and ran home to check the post.... I also got a red fleece and commiserations mag was my first time in the ballot though...
Will read the magazine when I get home (again) tonight and see if I fancy a charity place, although am seriously put off by the amounts some ask you to commit to raising....
Plan B is the Brighton half in Feb and maybe an autumn marathon now - any recomendations for one ??
Well I got my acceptance letter today after the first time of applying! My other half didn't get in but she's pleased as it means she can watch me for a change. So after 3 years on the spectator side of the barriers it's time to get ready for life on the other side!
Good luck to everyone else who's got in, and commiserations to those who didn't.
I'm the same Ali, the amounts asked from the charities is a huge amount of money no matter who you are, and even more so when people are watching what their spending with a hawk eye. It just doesn't seem charitable to ask for such a huge amount of money.
I realise that it's probably that size to put some people off on purpose.
I'm looking at the brighton half too, looks good, will be damn cold down there though in feb
Question for the accepted people: what is the link to the payment page for entry fees? In previous years it has been possible to use this page as a way of checking if you're in (when you can't go home and check the post) because it only accepts your payment if you are...

Got acceptance letter. Went through payment steps. All was OK then suddenly got message to say that I had cancelled by ballot entry! Still got confirmation e mail so one panic stricken call the VLM HQ and much listening to theme from 'The Trap' later had entry confirmed. Phew!!!
After 9 (non-consecutive) applications, I finally got my first acceptance letter today! Woo. Commiserations to those who were unsuccessful and fingers crossed for those who are still waiting to find out.
I'm a little confused, I had a congratulations letter in the post but it didn't mention anything about payment. I thought this had already been taken with the application.

Impatient of South London
Ooh interesting - I got through to the payment screen........
I WANT TO GO HOME AND CHECK MY POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question....
If you have a ballot place for 2012 can you carry that place over to 2013 and then accept a charity place for 2012 ?
Thanks
AnnaMG - The congratulations letter had a link on it, where to go to enter payment.
Not sure if it's different if you were guaranteed to 5 previous rejections or anything, so you might want to double check.
I had agreed to donate the fee too, I definitely remember it being taken from my bank there and then.
