After reading how dissapointed some people are I am definatly going to run my shiny white running socks off. My husband and I both applied. I already had a charity place but chuffed to absolute bits I got a ballot place on first time. I just can't belive it!! My husband wasn't so lucky but he is having my charity place so all is good
I'm in!!!! First time of trying and it'll be my first (and only) marathon so I'm stoked to get in Commiserations to all those who didn't get in and good luck to all those who did!
So, now all I need to do is train hard to be able to do it, go to London on my own for the first time and sort out somewhere to stay!
In! Third attempt at the ballot. Had forgotten about it tbh, so had a doubly pleasant surprise to find a 'congratulations' magazine on the dorrmat when i got in last night. It will be by second London Marathon, after previously getting in on a club place - looking forward to it all the more now I don't have the fear of wondering whether my body can do it or not
Runner888 - I'm still in shock after getting my letter yesterday, and I'm afraid apart from a very short run I've done nothing productive at all this morning. Well, I've trawled RW, looked for hotels, wobbled quite a lot, printed up a schedule ... I'm totally good for nothing!
Shake a Leg - yes, any hotel recomendations would be much appreciated.
depends what you wanna pay for the hotel, Radisson chain is about £180 to £200 with breakfasts and doesnt cost you a penny if you have to cancel before the day. alot of hotels ive found have been minimum2 nights or payment upfront and no refund available.
i didnt get in but no suprises really, i'm not sure how they work it out either tbh, one of life's greatest mysteries hahaha
Now to apply for a charity place, the only thing is my 2 chosen charities, both tell me they will let me know in a weeks time, now I'm finding that more difficult than waiting to see if i got in throught the ballot!!!
i'm in!! 5th time lucky - didnt get any olympic tickets through that ballot so was hoping for some luck eventually this year, i ran through a charity place in 2009 and am sooo glad to not have to raise 2k on top of everything else. The smile will be on my face for a while
I have missed out and though I am happy to run for a charity i get miffed with the the minimum sums they ask you to raise, I've just done Berlin (1st Marathon) and loved it - recommend to anyone fantastic course and great spectators and from what i have heard about the VLM Berlin sounds far better organised in terms of starting. looking for another now for next year
I'm looking at the brighton half too, looks good, will be damn cold down there though in feb
M4TTA - have entered the Brighton half it could be cold down here in Feb, especially as a lot of the route is along the seafront !! But given the current summer weather here, who knows what it'll be like by then ?! See you on the start line ?
thanks for the suggestions - I saw Dublin is still open for entries for this year and the race is only a month away ! Have also had the New Forest Marathon suggested by a friend who's run it before - it's in September and is scenic and worth doing apparently.
If you haven't received your acceptance/rejection yet then you can ring the VLM office on 020 7902 0200 and they will tell you over the phone whether you are in or not. Just press the option to speak to an adviser when you ring the number.
Monty - you're in luck. The five-strikes-and-you're-in scheme ends with next year's entry, so if you're rejected again for 2013 you'll be guaranteed a place in the 2014 race.
Sadly the scheme is ending too soon for me . I ran in 2009 (on a five-strikes place) so I've only got three rejections. Was on course for a place in 2015, but that's gone now.

Just got my sixth (consecutive) rejection
Anyone else had this?
I thought I wouldn't be bothered but I am.
Makes me determined to do an alternative marathon, it just might be Hull.
Must enter the weekday winners, I'm feeling lucky!

I shall give you one guess the outcome of my London Marathon application!
As I'm sure I will only ever do ONE marathon I want to be prepared !!
Guess I now need to cancel my pre-booked hotel.

Can anyone advise of a decent(ish) hotel in London to stay in - ideally near to the start and not mega expensive??
Cheers all...
Nothing in the post for me yet
It'll be the fourth rejection if it is... but wanted this to go with my year on year marathon history of Edinburgh, Brighton, New York...
*twiddles thumbs*
Is it hometime yet?!

Commiserations to everyone who didn't make it through the ballot - so many of us have been there and know exactly how you feel.
