Sadly I no longer have the 6 lane 50m pool in the back garden.....
In much the same way I no longer have a caravan (9 years yesterday I told the Witch Queen she was being replaced by a younger model... Cost me more than a caravan)
To the point, The gym we are members of is attached to a hotel so the gym and pool were open for guests and members for the morning. As we have no kids at home, and being old and married we could think of nothing better to do than go swimming on Christmas morning
as for the lube there is nothing wrong with it, It work's, and I get it for free from my "local sexual health practitioner", although it caused some raised eye brows when I was trying new wetsuits in the endless pool in Wilmslow !!!
Wilmslow??? you must join me in slumming it at Knutsford pool. Will put you through hell with a brestroke session. Did three timed 400 metres on BS yesterday, average 8 mins 32 secs.
I was in Royles just before Christmas buying som elastic shoe laces for sprog 2, and the new shop assistance said have you shopped with us before and asked for my post code and name...
His face was a picture when it came up with 2 bikes, 3 wetsuits and dozens of pairs of shoes !
Dave - LJS has one of those red and white P2s, and no, there's no way I could ride it. My inside leg measurement is only 28ins! I've got a Trek too but it's a weeny bike too, so no way could you use mine either, your knees would up around your ears!
I logged on after some advice for my first Tri and found this thread, some sound advice, just one question and forgive me if this sounds thick but how does your race number work in the pool, is it on the swim cap you are provided with? I'm also thinking of using a number belt to save time, would you recommend one?
Your race number is written on your arm and calf in black marker pen...
I use a number belt as I swim in the same kit I cycle and run in... I know some ladies like to swim in a sports bra type affair and pull a t shirt on over that in T1
Mines an Orca number belt btw
ask away, Nothing you ask about tri can sound thick, It's not something you experience by accident, so everyone has to start somewhere
Re kit, I plan to purchase a tri suit and do all three legs in it. Not too bad as it's a pool swim not open water.
I have been doing well with the swim element, well enough to get me through and I'm a runner by nature so it's just the bike leg I need to worry about, I haven't been able to put the miles in I'd like for one reason or another, mainly this bloody windy weather but I have found a spin class, now I know that's not the same but it's got to help right?

Right last turbo / run brick of 2011 coming up
managed to train every day now for 10 days (yep swim session Christmas Day) This work lark really gets in the way
Dave has his own swimming pool, which he tows behind his caravan
It's filled with lubrication you would normally find in a sex shop to.

Royles Tri Shop in the High St Wilmslow has an endless pool in the basement..
I work in Birchwood, but live over in Chester.. So Royles is my local Tri store
Knutsford OK when I am at our head office at Booths Park..
Migh thave to hook up next time I'm over that way
It's the new Royles shop, Not the bike shop (I'm not allowed in either without my OH holding the cheque book)

I'd love an R3.. But I think divorce would be on the cards if I bought one.
Happy with Trek Madone for general use, Cervélo P2 for time trial and an old Decathlon special that lives on the turbo
Me an IronWolf are very different sizes, So no way could she manage on one of my bikes
