Agreed. Once you've got yourself tangled up trying to pull a shirt on over wet arms you'll never do it again! I always cycle and run in the same stuff I wore to swim in.
I am terrible at swimming, seriously, I have done a super-sprint and it took me 11.51 for the 400m (about 341st out of 350)! Anyway onto Crystal Palacd Sprint (750m swim, you can see I am foucssed on the swim!).
Cut a long story short, I want to then do a Olympic in late August, and call me nuts, but go for the IM next year.
Swimming tips needed or else I won't be able to swim inside the cut off. Plus how do I get pirate symbol!
Most of us are sh*t at swimming mate I wouldn't worry about it. All it means is you get to be near the back in T1 and can overtake a load off people on the bike.
Can you afford to have swimming lessons? If not then just hit the pool as often as you can and do intervals as you would with your running................saying all that I'm a slow coach too!
well I do breatsroke pyramid sets 50, 100 , 150, 100 & 50 going with 10 seconds rest in between, do this three times with a minutes rest in between pyramids, swim down with 150 metres, should give you 1500 metres in around 40 mins

Learn front crawl asap... Breast stoke isn't the way to go...
Takes more effort than FC, and BS is almost impossible in a wettie
You are also less likely to get tangled up with other swimmers in a pool swim doing FC much more chance of a clash of arms with 4 of you in a lane at once
Lisa, where are you based? Maybe your local tri club will offer beginner friendly swimming sessions or a group to go out with to improve your cycling.
breaststroke is very inefficient ( especially as I can't do it ) and more so as you get into the longer distances, and agree with Dave that's even worse in a wetsuit.
and if you learned FC carl you would be much quicker than you are with breastroke - the key is to get through each discipline as quickly as possible with the least resistance.
It's definitely worth persevering with the fc. There must be only a very few people who are biomechanically able to do it, so it's just about learning a skill. You might not be the best, but pretty much everyone can learn to do it passably, and once you can do that it is far faster and more efficient than breaststroke. The only possible reason i could see for doing breaststroke is if you really have difficulty swimming fc in a straight line in an OW event, but even then practice makes a whole lot better.

I'm in the North West, will check out my local Tri Club.
Thought I recognised the name - either remember it from FB interactions with the running centre or from a year or two ago about the round britain relay thing.
Just off on a course at the moment for the rest of the morning but feel free to get in touch.
Lisa I've been going to salt ayre with Carnforth Otters on a Wed night, they do technique & drills & Heysham High on Thurs with COLT I've gone from being a really cr@p swimmer not able to swim more than 2 lengths without stopping to doing 1hr sessions (& crawling out cause I'm knackered) but really enjoying it.
