Hello Twos. I've had a shorter run this weekend (about 13 m) but a very STEEP one from my mum's in north yorks. Final 20 miles this coming weekend. Bit fearful about the possibility of heat. Maybe I should ask the support crew for a lolly? Stawberry mivvi? And how will I manage to stir my pink gin if I need to hold a parasol to protect my delicate complexion? So much to think about.
Please may I join your support group. Planning on coming up to the Smoke by National Express so won't be with you until 12:00 ish but happy to stay until late. My pal is with your group, so would like to be on hand to provide her with jelly babies and a cwtch - anyone else welcome too!!!!
Absolutely ffRan, you'll be very welcome. Think I had you or your daughter or your mum (can't remember how it goes) in my support group a couple of years ago. The other one was in the group next door
Met you at Luton in 2007 and 2008 (the cancelled one) but I shall probably be wearing my Runners Arms or Kitchen t-shirt with my name on the back. I am not particularly memorable but I am loud, blonde and Scottish
Ahem, cough, TP not memorable, splutter...so modest is that bombshell! No chaffing as "I took precautions" but certainly Mr Wonderweb and Mrs Needle and thread will have to do some alterations before the big day!
Flipping flybe have cancelled my flight down on Friday morning so I now won't be in Londinium until Friday mid afternoon. No explanation, no apology. It's been bookded since bloody November but I didn't feel I had any other option than to go with it as flights will be like gold dust that weekend.
TP, that's very naughty of them! Why do companies think they can get away with this kind of behaviour?
Just been out for a sweaty four and a half miles. I was going to write " a cheeky four and a half miles", but there was nothing cheeky about it apart from my wobbly bottom
Thanks SC but if I don't rebook my out sector on their suggested one they cancel my inbound sector too. I think the phrase 'over a barrel' kind of fits.
Legs, bums and tums this evening - I might not be able to run very far or very fast, but at least I will be toned!!
Off to a workshop at the Marsden this afternoon - advice and tips on how to make the most of your looks, with lots of free samples etc. I will probably be the only one there who has still got her own hair, since most of the women there will have had chemo. Apparently Dior is one of the sponsors, so the goody bag might be quite good!!
I hate to break this to you ST but Bath isn't in the Orient. In fact, it's a wee bit further away from the Mysterious East than you are at the moment. You might still get curry for your lunch though
Bath, not Bristol? No Harvey's for you young lady. Could do with some hints and tips for day after VLM...there's a saying/truism that if you want to know what your partner will look like in 10 years time take a picture at the end of the marathon. Sounds about right judging by the befores and afters at yesterday's half!
Ahhh Tiptoes, these legs never stop. 90 minutes of tkd last night, 8 miler tonight (Slow tho!). Fast half next Sunday then two slow ones before VLM. It's all good fun!
These legs stopped after 13 miles yesterday. Aimed for 15, tried out jelly beans as fuel (my stomach didn't like them and made me feel sick), my shorts rubbed and it was too hot.
I rang my OH at 13 and got him to come and pick me up
Well there are some very sociable personnel involved and some lovely visitors...Tho' have you seen the newspapers this morning..."Support Group Exposed in Cash for Cakes Scandal."... Apparently influential decisions can be made regarding McVitie versus Cadbury if enough wonga is donated at the expo stand and the policy committee might be influenced to look after your interests at Mile 17 in the Jaffa Cake Department.
Well done to everyone who has been running - hope the weather isn't as sunny as this on VLM day though.
ST you lucky thing going on the Orient Express.
TP it will be no problem for me to be at Mudchute for 0800 - it'll be a lie in after having to get up at 0330 for my flight on the Friday morning
Do we get to see pics of the runners at all, or do we go by T-shirt/fancy dress description - cos i don't know anyone at all? Can't wait to meet everyone though.

More bombsite than bombshell I'm afraid
MORNING ... in 4 weeks time you'll all either have achey legs or achey head depending on which side of the fence you were on.

My friend went to one of those when she was having chemo, she got loads of great hints and a large goody bag from Estee lauder. Have fun
SC my advise would be to keep the leggies moving, a with a possible couple mile run on the tuesday after. (well thats what I do.
TP sorry to hear your sleazy jet woo

On a more positive note, this support group thread has more posts than the others

SC - i wouldn't even contemplate buying Cadburys jaffa cakes, its McVities all the way for me (and i deny any affiliation with the McVitie company)
i'm not terrbile
i'm just a horrible marathon task master
I was in Brizzle last week SC. It's a lovely city.
The joy of work is uncontrolled today ... tears, tantrums, ranting, sulks, we've had it all
Doesn't sound too good - don't you have a naughty step to put these people on?
