Looking at the 1500 v the 3000 I would day that was a good consistent pace dependant of course on what you are aiming for !

  • Options

I think I'm being lazy Meldy.  I cruise up and down and feel good at the end, too good for my liking.  I would like to knock over a minute off that 1500m time and a minute and a half off the 3000m time.

I also take far too long to turn, all my Tuesday lane mates have told me that already, so improvements there would give me a second or two per lap.  Without swimming any faster a couple of minutes per 1500m would be massive.

  • Options

Indeed .. you get a lot of turns in OW   image

  • Options

I'll probably get a few in with my sense of direction image

  • Options

Keep doing your slow turns VT and come July you will get a nice surprize when you see your swim split image , im too slow at turning too but CBA to learn flips - im only doing a handful of pool sprints - but then again it should help in training to keep the pace up

Thank's DK, I'll find out a lot about myself at my first ever OW swim at a half IM next Saturday, coincidentally also my first ever attempt at triathlon.

Not sure if 400m is on this month's program, but we did 2 x 400m time trials tonight as part of our main set.  My first was a disaster in that I was put at the front of the pack and I pushed way to hard to stay ahead.  It was never going to stay that way and I busted at about 300m swallowing half the pool and let them pass.

Second attempt was on our own and I was able to pace myself better.  Finished in 7:50, which was 13 seconds slower but was a much stronger swim in that I could have maintained that pace for a lot longer.

Good swimming VT'd. I didn't have time for 3000m yesterday, but managed to knock 1min 31 secs off my 1500m time. It's all slowly improving image

I think we are on to a new month of time now .. what we need is the list fairy to transfer these on to the spreadsheet and then I can record the 400M for May

    6.50  image

Really happy with that, was doing sets of 16 - 1 easy/1 fast and this was on the 3rd rep I think when I thought to record it .. more than happy with that !

Well done on that Meldy.  I used to be worried by sets but this small competition and the winter swim league has pushed me that little bit harder than I would have bothered otherwise.

The incentive just to post a newer and better time and to carry on beyond my usual 1500m dawdle is amazing.

Yes it is quite motivating !!  I even surprised myself today   image

    Nice swimming Meldy image

In the pool this morning feeling good. Sadly my times don't seem to be going anywhere. Recorded a 100m 1:55 and somehow managed to miscount the 400m towards the end of the session and did 500m; knocking off the time for the last 100 give 8:36. Ho hum

Meldy, open water finds me out (so does biking and running!)

I cant concentrate on swimming for irrational fears of all water life. I will have the Jaws  music in my head the minute I get in the water at HPP and will swim like a nana.

That aside, reallly chuffed with the time and improvement. Fisrt time in a while I have pushed hard over a 'short' distance since back spasms a few weeks back.

Just looked back a few months on my plans and I highlighted a 400m pb of 07.50 so yes its all in the improvements!
I am hoping for a much better swim time this year  image
